I'm glad you enjoyed the Johnny Cash recording! I agree with Jeanne's interpretation of "Feast." I'm glad you liked the collection!Leslie @ This is the Refrainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18027804132268043518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19926025.post-44558088235654836622012-08-17T09:35:24.973-03:002012-08-17T09:35:24.973-03:00Also--thinking about this more, I think I like the...Also--thinking about this more, I think I like the idea of having a poem that we all read and then discuss. Or would this be too restrictive? Anyway...just a thought.Trish @ Love, Laughter, Insanityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17225576485797030511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19926025.post-39742412802896027712012-08-17T09:34:30.585-03:002012-08-17T09:34:30.585-03:00It's on my to-do list. I'm going to pull out my big fat Norton Anthology of Poetry and see if any of the Pulitzer winners are listed in there. I do have a collection of Plath but I want to read someone I haven't read yet.

I love your idea of listening while reading! I'm on my work computer so can't listen to the Cash right now but will see if I can get it to work on my phone.Trish @ Love, Laughter, Insanityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17225576485797030511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19926025.post-83537276969596486442012-08-16T13:22:39.489-03:002012-08-16T13:22:39.489-03:00Whenever I read "The Harp Weaver" I get ...Whenever I read "The Harp Weaver" I get a chill up my spine. (no joke) I first read it when I was about thirteen. I had just read Solzhenitsyn's "Gulag Archipeligo" and between the two, was haunted for months. It's funny how one little poem can have such a lasting effect.Snowballhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02638506554534468064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19926025.post-7168751406605949092012-08-15T20:32:50.560-03:002012-08-15T20:32:50.560-03:00I like "Feast" because of its contrarine...I like "Feast" because of its contrariness. There's nothing she can take in that will be as wonderful as she imagines. Also, the rhyme in the final four lines, which is less simple and exact than in the first two sets of four lines, is kind of funny. It seems to say that nothing is as simple--or as good--as you think it's going to be when you first feel the hunger for it.Jeannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01374498643286099244noreply@blogger.com
