Rambling on Wednesday...

I don't feel like doing anything formal today. It is supposed to be a post about music but Wednesday sort of came a bit faster than I was thinking. So, I am going to ramble.
  • The charming comedian (aka 'the guy') honestly told me yesterday that I should update and get a newer e-reader. And not even really an e-reader, but a tablet that has e-reading capabilities. I think he is crazy. The thing that got me was this was before my e-reader unexpectedly messed up and marked all of my books as 'unread'. So, all my read books show up like that, but I also lost my spot in the few books I had started. I was not impressed. Care suggested I start putting my reading statuses on Goodreads. That is a very good idea that I think about and then never actually do.
  • Today I had to haul all the books I read last year from this house to storage in order to make room for this year. I should haul them when there is a smaller amount, but I like watching the pile grow. It is a feeling of accomplishment, I guess.
  • I then tried to sneak a few books from storage. Do I need them? Nope. Was the guy surprised? Not really.
  • I am banning myself from the second-hand book store. I was there yesterday and they had just received a whole new batch of science-fiction and fantasy. Yes, it was book credit, but really didn't need more books. It's fun, though.
  • I am still wishing I had more hours in the day.
What are your random thoughts for the day?

  1. Moving books to storage sounds terrible. You definitely need to keep some out ;) Also, I'm a terrible influence. heh.

    1. Yeah, I think it is great but I would never be able to find anything that way...

  4. Would you use the other capabilities on a tablet? If yes, then it's a good idea. If not, then not really!

My random thought....if I take that trip that I was talking with you the other day I would also go to Quebec! Random! Especially seeing as it isn't going to happen for a few years yet!

    1. Well, I got a new phone, so no tablet for me...

Oh, yes, we are discussing maybe going to Quebec this year. I have drove through, but never really visited.

  5. More hours! Yes please! and can you post about what you bought? I had to fight off the urge to go to the secondhand bookstore too. I think I will be giving in on Saturday. What kind of new sf/fantasy did they get? Even if I can't shop there, I love reading about books in bookstores! I've worked in both new bookstores and secondhand bookstores, and each have their merits and demerits. It's all about the books, of course!

I can't answer about the e-tablet, but your thought reminded me of why I don't want one! lol

  7. Ooooh! I really wanna know what you got from the second hand store!!! That really sucks about the ereader :( Hope it didn't mess you up too much. I knw that would really bother me though to have books mark as unread that I had read, lol.

  8. Wishing there were more hours in the day: It all depends I guess! I mean, if you were having a really awesome day or you wanted more things to be done then yeah ... but if you were having a crap day then well, maybe not so much. :)

As Random thoughts ... I (as always) have much too homework. And maths is hard. :p

    1. Yeah, that makes sense. When a day is bad I just want it to end!

  9. I am doing the Goodreads thing this year for the first time! Finally I will know how many books I read in a year (if I remember to add them, which is not a certain thing...)

An arguement about keeping your books out of strorage is that the more books you have in a house, the less empty air space there is to heat. So it is good for the environment.

    1. I get a bit slack with remembering about Goodreads. I am off to a good start, though.

Oh, yes, I will have to remember that the next time the guy tells me I have too many books.

  10. I'm so busy this week, even my random thoughts are a day late! Let's see... my husband wants an iPad like crazy, but we can't afford it. He also thinks I need an e-reader, but in spite of the fact that I've read the kids a few books aloud from his 1st generation Kindle and didn't mind it, I'm still insisting I won't get one until I've dwindled the number of unread print books on my shelves down to less than 50. :)

    1. I don't use my e-reader constantly, but it is worth it for when I do.

  11. I still haven't done Goodreads--but then I can't keep up with what I'm already trying to do.

My husband is always suggesting upgrades on technology when I have yet to master the first versions.

Other random thoughts include trying to catch up on my blog reading!

    1. I probably will never master technology... I did figure out how to do a couple things with the TV that the guy didn't even figure out, though. :)

  12. more hours yes.

went to visit Sean at his new work and they've a few indie/used bookshops nearby. I'll have to take the daughter exploring as we try to keep each other in check... 'bout threw my phone out the window because the tom-tom app to keep me from getting lost was losing me. note to self, learn the app before the trip.

I always think to update my currently reading on goodreads as a bookmarker, etc. then I do and forget and leave it; although Anna Karenina on page 9 for nearly a year is intentional. I really must finish that particular book.

    1. I have GPS apps on my phone but I haven't figured them out yet...

I never remember to say my page status in books, but at least I am remembering to update my finished books.

  13. Oh please please please more hours!! And I like the rambling posts. I've had a bit of blogger burnout the past couple of weeks so a ramble feels refreshing. ;)

Good for you for putting your books in storage. I seem to be able to get rid of books I haven't read more easily than those I HAVE read!

    Happy Wed...er Thursday.

    1. Well, I just put them away until we have more room. When that happens I will probably have to decrease a bit more, though.

  14. I would love a few more hours too but only if I could be guaranteed that while reading during said extra hours that I would not fall asleep!!

  15. My Kobo does that too! Drives me nuts! Except mine is some books and not others that it does it to. The Goodreads status helped me last time though :)
