Library Haul - First Week of August, 2011

Since I didn't include my library loot on my Week in Review post this week, I thought I would just do a post about it. This computer is so slow it is driving me nuts, so this post is uncomplicated. The library bought me books, so I am excited! If my webcam was hooked up and thought there was a chance in heck it would work on this computer, you might have seen another vlog. I just didn't figure it would upload.

Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire - This author has a lot of positive buzz and the library bought the entire series. I happened to notice when I was searching for something else and quickly got my name in.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs - This is one of the books the library bought because I asked them to. I think it looks great and lots of people that I trust have enjoyed it.

Resistance: A Woman's Journal of Struggle and Defiance in Occupied France by Agnes Humbert - Sassymonkey told me to! (Anna and Ana, this sounds like something you two would like, too.)

Eon: Dragoeye Reborn by Alison Goodman - I have had this book out before...

Holding Still For As Long As Possible by Zoe Whittall - This author is on my list to read and this book sounds interesting. I also saw a review recently....

A Stir of Bones by Nina Kiriki Hoffman - I am thinking maybe Eva?

Anya's Ghost by Vera Brosgol - Another book that the library bought because I asked. It sounds really good, but with the exception of Fables I don't buy graphic novels.

Sweet Tooth: In Captivity by Jeff Lemire - Another book bought because I asked. I read the first book and now there are three, but the library stopped buying at book 1. I think I will have to ask them to buy book 3 next.

  1. As I was reading your post and saw Resistance, I thought, "Hey, that sounds good" and then I saw you mention that I'd like it. Great minds think alike. :) Can't wait to hear what you think of it.

  2. Ooh, Miss Peregrine! I'm on the wait list for it, but I think I'm still something like #30. A lot of people got there before me.

  3. Sounds like you brought home some great reads!!

  4. It sounds like you got a great haul in books from the library! I especially want to read Rosemary and Rue especially after I loved Feed by the same author (different name) so much. Hope you enjoy all of these!

  5. I like the sound of Miss Peregrine (I've seen several good reviews of it I think) and Resistance which is probably right up my street too. Enjoy your loot! :-)

  6. A Stir of Bones by Nina Kiriki Hoffman wasn't me, but I love that title! I'm like #86 or something ridic on my library's holdlist for Miss Peregrin, heehee.

  7. What a nice library. I hadn't thought about requesting the library GET books that I want. They probably even have a formal way to request this. I'll have to go look...

  8. **Anna: Now that I have read it, I know you will like it. I really review it one of these days.

**Memory: Miss Peregrine was good. I enjoyed the inclusion of the pictures.

    **Staci: I did so far!

**Samantha: I really want to read Rosemary and Rue and have been carrying it around with me, but it means starting yet another series...

**Cath: I think you would like Resistance, yes, and Miss Peregrine is perfect for RIP.

**Eva: hm, now I have no idea where I heard of A Stir of Bones from...

**Care: I don't do it a lot. Just when I really want to read something, don't have much book spending money, and they don't have it...
