Operation: Use My Camera

I have been following Trish's posts where each month she picks a kitchen appliance she doesn't use enough and dedicates a month to it. Since January I have been toying with an idea of my own that adopts her idea, but I want to broaden it a bit. I am not much for the kitchen. I am going to do something that encompasses my entire house. So, at the beginning of each month I am going to set goals and then we will see how it goes.

For May, I want to take more pictures. I used to be huge into photography but I hardly take pictures any more. I bought a new camera recently, though, and I am determined to use it more often. My goal is to use it everyday in May and to help I am using a photo a day meme of sorts hosted at Fat Mum Slim. You can see the categories in the picture below.

I might post the actual pictures to my Tumblr, which I actually resurrected yesterday. Or Pinterest. I haven't entirely decided yet...

In preparation, I took some pictures today:
Casey and her 'Stash' that she generally could careless about because she loves one toy...

  1. I really love this idea!!! I totally want to commit to doing this, but I hate to commit at the same time :/ Things are just so up in the air right now..still not even close to coming back to blogging regularly. But maybe this is something I can do quick each day and post on tumblr…hmmm…maybe I'll sign up and see what I can do :) Looking forward to your pics!! The ones you took are gorgeous!

  5. I'm so so glad that you've adopted the "Operation Use My" idea!! And I love that you're tailoring it to using things throughout the household. And like Debi, I'm curious about next month's Operation.

The outdoor pics are very peaceful!! I think I've decided to post "Wordless" Wednesday posts each week with the picture prompts.

  6. This is a great idea! Love the outdoor pics! And wow that's a lot of brightly colored cat toys! My parents cat has a ton of toys it never plays with. He prefers to dig out the cardboard toilet paper rolls from the trash to play with instead. :P

  7. Oh, very interesting, Kailana! A photo a day....

Your area looks as brown and gray as ours! I know green leaves are budding everywhere, it's been such a dark spring- today we had fog for most of the day - that I long for it to be spring and May and colourful again. I can hardly wait to see what you take pictures of, could you post some of them here? I'm not on tumblr, I've heard of it but that's it.

  8. What an awesome idea! If my crappy old camera would hold a charge for longer than two pictures I'd join you. Maybe next year!

    1. That is too bad about your camera. This one is doing pretty well so far. I am still using the batteries that came with it.

  13. Thanks for posting about this challenge. This is exactly the boost I needed to get back into using my camera frequently. I have done the first three days. Tomorrow I will do day four and five. Have you been staying up to date so far? Did you decide exactly where you will post your photos?
