I was considering just doing this one, but then Heather tagged me!
1. One book that changed your life.
You know, books have ALWAYS changed my life. I grew up in an abusive, alcoholic household and books were my safe haven. I have always read, always. My first word was "tickle" (laugh at will) but it meant book. My mother has pictures of me walking around with The Reader's Digest. I can't pick just one because I don't know how I would have turned out without books.
2. One book that you’ve read more than once.
Not as many as I would like... I have reread Flowers for Algernon. I don't know what it is about that book, but I LOVE it! It thinks it just speaks to society and how we always have to "fix" everything. Okay, I also reread "A Wrinkle in Time". I love fantasy, what can I say. Actually, I will probably read it this month, I normally read it in the summer. (oh, and just in case I ruin it, I have three copies...)
3. One book you’d want on a desert island. Ignoring the obvious survival answers... Man, this is a hard question... Fortune's Rock by Anita Shreve.
4. One book that made you laugh.
Man, talk about a hard question. lol Lots of books make me laugh. Why am I laughing is the question. I have the books that I laugh about because they are laughable ridiculous. The Cat Who books by Lilian Jackson Braun. They are about cats, and they have humourous situations.
5. One book that made you cry.
*sigh* Marley and Me. That book will be a rereader. I felt like in a way, I was reading about my own dog and that even after she is gone, I have this to read. (You know when you cry just thinking about your dog dying, her actually dying is not going to go well)
6. One book that you wish had been written.
A sequel to The Princess Bride; Buttercup’s Baby. <--- I agree!
7. One book that you wish had never been written.
Oh, there are sooo many. hehe, later Laurell K. Hamilton. Totally destroyed the series. She should have stopped before it was too late!
8. One book you’re currently reading.
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostava. And about, um, many more.
9. One book you’ve been meaning to read.
One?!? *looks at to be read pile* I think I have more than one...

I am so sorry, but I turned anonymous commenting off. I have had it from the very beginning, but that is how the spam is getting by my spam filter at the moment. If it is a big deal I will turn it back on and moderate all comments. I also changed moderation from older than 14 days to older than 7.

And I want to get my hands on Marley & Me! It sounds so good!
I reread Princess Bride this passed fall at some point. Or maybe this spring... Somewhere. It was good.

I found your blog via Heather's and plan to wander around later, checking out all your reviews. But I noticed you're reading Small Island. I recently read it for an online book group and thought it was very good in spite of the slow start. It may wind up in my Top Ten for the year.
ReplyDeleteI plan to get a copy of Marley & Me, too. I actually had it in my hands at the airport a couple of days ago, but remembered that I have a gift card for B&N and decided to wait (plus, I already had several books for my trip and didn't need another).
I see you have Children of God on deck. I loved, loved, loved The Sparrow and have read Children of God and A Thread of Grace. Met the author at a conference in '98 and she was very charming and quite funny.

I've seen you on Heather's too, but you never include your url, so until today I had never read your blog. I have bookmarked it, another person that doesn't just read romances with others occassionally thrown in.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, yes, reading Small Island... I think I read the first section to be honest. It's not that it was bad, it is that other things were more appealling at the time.
Oh, and I have read The Sparrow and have the two other books to read. I plan to read Children of God this month. Have to see where the other ends up, might be good to read it this month as well as it has been on my to be read pile since last summer.
