So, Chris at Stuff As Dreams Are Made On... came up with this great idea to make a meme about music. I thought it was great timing because I went with the charming comedian to see a band that hadn't performed together in 43 years the other night and I have been wanting to do a post about it!
I am going to be honest, I had no idea what I was going to be listening to! It turned out to be a really fun evening. They got a huge turnout and they actually sounded pretty good! They have been hailed as Canada's Beatles, but seeing as how they had their moment in the sun and then everyone sort of forgot about them, I am not sure if that is really the case. They broke up in 1967 because of the Vietnam War. What a shame, really. Just imagine what they could have accomplished if they had stayed together! Anyway, the band is called The Great Scots and they used to perform in Nova Scotia Tartan Kilts. There are a few videos on YouTube and the girls are screaming!
I have to say, I thought they were pretty great! They have a CD, so I think I might have to get myself a copy. I am a Beatles fan after all. They are pretty good looking guys, huh? If you want to hear more, you can listen to them here.
Oh, and the girls (and guys) are still screaming! (Actually, it was like a rock concert. I got pushed, shoved, almost knocked over, danced into, and I had the charming comedian screaming in my ear.) They put on a great show the other night, and I took a video. I just have to figure out how to upload it. In the meantime, here are some pictures:
Yes, sadly they did not wear kilts... I wasn't really sure about that! So, there you have it, a great band from my little tiny province. And, actually, one of the members is from about twenty minutes from my house. You should see his house... It reminds me of Gone with the Wind... Or, well, New Orleans. Anyway, I am very glad I got the chance to watch them in concert. It was history-making!
A totally awesome band, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
ReplyDeleteLove this blog keep it up!

ReplyDeleteWow...just wow, lol. I've never heard of them, but men in kilts in black and white video is pretty progressive! I'm glad you had so much fun :) And I'm so glad that you did my meme :D I'm shocked at how well it's catching on!
ReplyDeleteSo, I've never heard of the group but boy, did those videos bring back memories - the dancers in the go-go boots especially!
