Sunday Book Coveting... ON SUNDAY

Every once in a while I get my days of the week aligned, huh? I was thinking the other day that I really don't do any of the 'popular' memes and weekly events that circulate around the blogosphere. I think that is probably why my blog is so quiet comment-wise! I have my moments where I think I have been blogging for almost four years and lately you can hear a pin drop... It's my own fault. I always just blogged and tried to stay out of everything! I probably should've tried harder, huh? Oh, well, I am just having a moment. It will pass!

Anyway, I think I am going to have my own weekly event. I always really enjoyed Dewey's Book Coveting posts, so in memory of her, I am going to try and post books that I really want to read, buy, or borrow from the library. This is not hard for me, you know. Today, we are going to take a look in the 'Book Bag'. These are books that I own and have put in a little pile to read soon.

First up is Shanghai Girls by Lisa See. I actually almost started this last night, but there was a fantasy book that I really wanted to read, too. So, I asked Stephanie and Amy if I should go fantasy or historical fiction on Twitter and they both picked fantasy. That means I am reading China Mieville's newest book instead. See's newest is an ARC that I received from Random House Canada last week. I think it will probably be my next read because I loved her other two books.

Orphans of Chaos by John C. Wright. A fantasy novel that I have out from the library. I have never read Wright before and have been curious, so decided to give him a try!

Grim Tuesday by Garth Nix. I read the first book in this series, but haven't reviewed it yet. This is a continuation with the series.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Curiousity. Two years ago this book was reviewed at Twisted Kingdom. Even though I have told people that the person they are yelling at no longer blogs, people still comment... So, I figured I really must read this book for myself!

The Language of the Night by Ursula K. LeGuin. I need a book for the non-fiction portion of the Once Upon a Time Challenge...

The Queen of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner. The sequel to The Thief, which is another book I need to review. I hear good things about this series!

Love is Hell by Various. I don't really like short story collections, but there are stories by Melissa Marr and Scott Westerfeld. Figured it was worth a read!

The Elegance of the Hedgehog - For the Dewey Reading Challenge.

The Exchange by Graham Joyce. I really can't remember why I wanted to read this book... Like I keep saying, I need to write things down!

Magickeepers by Erica Kirov - Need to have this read soon for a blog tour! I also have Starfinder for John Marco that I have to read before the 17th of June!

Burnt Shadows by Kamila Shamsie. An ARC that I have had for a while and really want to read.

The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters. An ARC that I really want to read! Getting good reviews so far...

Yep, the sad thing is that is just some of the books that I want to read! I have too many choices!

You definitely have to read the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare (City of Bones)! It's an excellent series and I was lamenting awhile back that it hasn't gotten the hype it deserves.

  6. There's never a shortage of books I want to read either, Kelly. :-)

Shanghai Girls is in my immediate TBR pile too. I have several books ahead of it, but I do hope to get to it one of these days (sooner than later). And I recently came into possession of The Elegance of a Hedgehog. It sure sounds good, doesn't it? Burnt Shadows is another one I really want to read.

    Now to get busy reading!

  8. I've read a few of Lisa See's books and I must say I enjoyed her writings. I haven't heard of Shanghai Girls, though. I'm determined to read it one day. :D

  9. I'm not familiar with any of the coveted books, but I love the idea of doing this weekly. God only knows that my TBR list on librarything is well past one hundred, and that's not even including the books on my TBR shelf. :)

    Happy reading.

  11. These posts are dangerous! I basically want to read all of those too.

I notice that the blogging world has been quieter in general lately. Lots of people not posting as much, taking breaks, getting burned out...I wonder what it is about this time of the year!

  13. Alice: I forgot about her other books. I was just thinking about her books that have the same idea behind them. I hope you do get a chance to read this book! I'll keep you posted on what I think.

Christina: I think I will always have a TBR pile. It is just the way it is! I hope you pick up some good book recommendations!

Vasilly: I know. I have at least four books waiting for me all ready! lol Me and the library...

Ana: Dangerous is bad. I have that problem when other people do posts like this!

Melissa: I just accept that I am always going to have a TBR pile. It makes things more relaxing. :)

What a huge list! I never could remember why I wanted to read books on my list until I started to track in goodreads.com. Now, hopefully, I'll also be better at remembering if and when I read something in the past. but that makes me wonder what fun tools for us readers will be around in 5 yrs. I am such a different reader than I was 2 years ago!

  17. Several of the books you covet are also on my list - especially The Little Stranger!

You know, I love the weekly events but I can never seem to get to them on time either!

  18. Pat: Nah, I'll be good with books for a while!

Bkclubcare: Yeah, it's a big list and really only the tip of the iceberg!

Lisa: Yeah, things are pretty quiet

Iliana: I am the worst with posting on time! I do try, though! haha

  19. I have so many books I want to read too! Argh. The Little Stranger looks good but I still haven't read The Night Watch yet so I can't justify buying it, besides I'll probably wait for the paperback anyway. I loved the other Sarah Waters books that I've read though.

  20. Oh and I was going to say that I was thinking of starting to do Book Coveting posts too. Not on a schedule just once in a while, since I never seem to get around to doing the Friday Finds lately.

  21. Tanabata: That would be fun. You doing a Sunday book coveting post!
