Bad Bloggers, Once Upon a Time III, and Other Catching Up

First up, last Sunday I posted a list of books that were all due back to the library on the 22nd. There were 16 of them and I read 10! I am very proud of myself. I had to bring the other six back, but I will get them out again. I actually have my library piles under control for the moment. I am going to try and calm down for the summer because I want to work on my own TBR pile. Unless it is something I absolutely have to read that moment, the only things I am going to request are books that I have brought back unread and books that continue series that I have on the go. It will be a summer of cleaning.

Next up, Bad Bloggers.

Charmed Life by Diana Wynne Jones - Sounded interesting
Forests of the Heart by Charles de Lint - My quest to read all that he has written.
The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker - Natasha from Maw Books, but really her husband...
Babymouse: Our Hero by Jennifer Holm - Melissa from Book Nut
The Savage by David Almond - Nymeth
Black Maria by Diana Wynne Jones - Nymeth again
Babymouse: Beach Babe by Jennifer Holm - Melissa from Book Nut
Wanderlust and Lipstick: The Essential Guide for Women Traveling Solo by Beth Whitman - Eva from a Striped Armchair
I, Coriander by Sally Gardner - Eva again
Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut - Because I wanted to read something else by him.
Bones of the Dragon by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman - It's fantasy.... Weis and Hickman wrote it. Enough said!

Then, Sunday marked the end of the Once Upon a Time Challenge. These are the books that I read which would meet the criteria of the challenge:

34. The Missing Book One: Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix
35. The Amazing Maurice and Hise Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett
36. Poison by Chris Wooding

Okay, so I guess I read 36... There are a few others that would count, but since I am using them for other challenges, I just left them off the list.

Lastly, and not in importance, isn't my new blog pretty? The very wonderful Amy from Thrifty Reader set me up with three columns. I love it! I was finding two colums restrictive, but I just do not have any patience for that sort of stuff. I am so grateful to Amy for making things look great!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I am happy because Chris and Debi are both back blogging. They are two of my favourite bloggers and I missed them!

  1. Aw thanks :D I'm thrilled to be back and I'm BEYOND thrilled that Debi's back!! I missed her so much. Looks like you got some great books there!! I'm on the same quest to read all of de Lint's books but so far I've only read like 5 :/ Plenty to go!! I LOVE the new look of the blog. Surprisingly though, I don't miss having three columns and you'd think that I would with all of that extra room! I may bring it back one day, but for now, the two column format is working for me. And congrats on the OUAT challenge!! That's awesome!

  3. Aww...what a nice way to start my morning...thanks!!! And I understand...I'm soooooooo thrilled that Chris is back!!!!!! And when Nymeth finishes up her school stuff so she can be around a lot more...well, then life will be perfect again. :D

Yay, yay, yay, I'm so happy that you enjoyed Maurice! And man, I want to read most every book on your OUaT list...of course, it will take me forever to get through that many. Did you enjoy Larklight and Garden of Eve? Those are two that I've been thinking about reading more sooner than later.

  4. I feel like two columns is too restrictive, too. Love the new look of the blog! And I still think you're beyond amazing when it comes to your reading numbers.

  8. Your new layout is lovely! I really like it. Amy did a fantastic job!

And wow! I thought my reading list for the OuaT challenge was considered impressive, but you completely dwarf my list. O_O

And Charmed Life is lovely. ^-^ It's the only one of the books on your Bad Bloggers list that I've actually read. I hope you'll enjoy it when you get to it!

  11. Hi there! Those lists are quite the accomplishment! Congratulations! I love the new look. I'm not sure I want three columns, myself, but I definitely need to do some housekeeping.

I've not been around much this week except to post due to computer problems, but hopefully we've sorted that out. I hope I hang around and chat more now. :)

    1. I like your new look, too. A lot.
    2. You read an amazing amount of books! 36 is more than any one else I've seen so far, not to mention 10 of your 16 library books. I hope you didn't have a large fine like I always do...
    3. Weis and Hickman are my son's very favorite fantasy authors. I think he's read all of the Dragonlance chronicles, or is in the process anyway.
    4. Have a good rest of your week!

  15. Chris: I switched from three columns to two with that last template. I was good for a while, but then it started to bother me. There was too much I wanted to put on my sidebar and it was getting cluttered! Anyway, glad to have you commenting again!

    3m: LOL Thanks!

Debi: I am looking forward to Nymeth being around more, too! She kept me entertained while you and Chris were computerless, though. :)

    Amanda: Thanks!

  17. I dig the three-columns. I'm jealous. I need to figure out how to do it!

I've heard a lot about Wanderlust and Lipstick. There was an interview with the author in the NYT this week, I think. She even organizes tours.

  18. Cath: Thanks! I am glad you can access my blog again. A few other people were having troubles, too. Hopefully it has been fixed for them, too!

Aarti: Thanks! I really like it. :) Glad to hear you have heard good things about that book. It was largely impulse because I haven't actually read a review, just someone had it out from the library.

36! You read 36 books! (if you have seen Clerks I am having a moment with the number being nearly the same, if you haven't seen it then this makes no sense at all!). That's a very impresseive list you have lots on there I want to read. I too am on the read everything by CDL quest!
