Giller Long-List

I am not doing very well with Canadian fiction this year! The Giller long-list was announced and I haven't read anything off it!

  • Margaret Atwood – The Year of the Flood
  • Martha Bailie – The Incident Report
  • Kim Echlin – The Disappeared
  • Claire Holden Rothman – The Heart Specialist
  • Paulette Jiles – The Colour Of Lightning
  • Jeanette Lynes – The Factory Voice
  • Annabel Lyon – The Golden Mean
  • Linden MacIntyre – The Bishop’s Man
  • Colin McAdam – Fall
  • Anne Michaels – The Winter Vault
  • Shani Mootoo – Valmiki’s Daughter
  • Kate Pullinger – The Mistress of Nothing
I do own Margaret Atwood and Paulette Jiles' books, but that's it. Normally I try to read the whole list, but maybe this year I will have to wait for the short list... What about you? Read anything on the list that you recommend?

  1. I really want to read The Heart Specialist. And I'm considering The Factory Voice.

  2. Well, I can't yet make a recommendation as I haven't read it, but our library does own a copy of The Color of Lightning, which I'd forgotten about, and so I may actually end up reading that one for the Canadian book challenge. Thanks for the reminder!

  3. I dont' normally read the books nominated for the Giller prize.. but at least I've usually heard of them! This year, the only one I've heard of is the Margaret Atwood one!

  4. Hi Kelly, I don't follow Giller and only know Margaret Atwood...

  5. I haven't read tons of Canadian fiction but I'm glad that you posted this list for reference!
