Music Munday - Christmas Music

I am starting to get ready to listen to Christmas music for the year. I have listened to a couple songs here and there, but I am slow with the Christmas spirit this year! Anyway, I thought I would share a couple songs that I really like at this time of the year.

This is not the version of this song I was looking for, but where it was in a movie it is all that I seem able to find...

  1. Oh yey, Josh! :)

I decided to break out the Christmas music this past weekend. It really helped with getting me in the mood and I'm ready to go now! A little snow helped too.

Love the Happy Christmas song too. My son worked at a school radio station and he would play this song every time he had a shift... no matter the time of year. It became his little signature thing of sorts.

Anyway, the Christmas music is now blasting freely at our house. Besides Josh, we love Trans Siberian Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, Kurt Bestor, Jon Schmidt, Enya... just to name a few.

That's actually the version of The Christmas Shoes I like the best =) It's one of my favourite Christmas songs, along with Do They Know it's Christmas and Santa I'm Right Here.

  3. All GREAT choices! I need to take some time to put together a You Tube Christmas playlist soon...that way I am not held hostage to the whims of the local Christmas music radio station.

  5. One of the things I do not like about living in the States is that their Thanksgiving (which takes place in two days) is so close to Christmas that the two kind of meld together. Christmas stuff is all over the place and song are on the radio, and people have started decorating, but we still have a holiday in front of it to celebrate, dammit! OK, I know, I'm being a bit of a Scrooge. The problem is, by the time Christmas actually does come, people are so sick of it that they take down their tree and put up all the Christmas decorations before it's even January 1st, let alone waiting for the 12 days of Christmas to go by. Heck, my SIL takes the tree down on CHRISTMAS DAY for crying out loud!

OK, sorry about that. I really didn't mean to vent all over your blog but I obviously I have some issues. A lot of that stems from my Christmas traditions and way to celebrate being different than my in-laws. :)

    Annnnnyway ....

One of my favorite Christmas songs is 'Mary's Boy Child' by Boney M, which has a reggae/island type sound to it. And from living in Rhode Island for awhile, I have a soft spot for 'Dominic the Christmas Donkey' which is a regional favorite that has strong Italian ties and even sounds like someone from the old country is singing it. You just have to listen to it to really appreciate it. :)

As for Christmas songs I don't like? I can't stand any rendition of I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus and Madonna's Santa Baby makes my teeth ache everytime I am unfortunate enough to hear it.
