Week in Review (4)

Random Thoughts

I cannot believe that January is pretty much over! Where does the time go! I am very happy with my reading year so far. I am hoping that it will continue! What is everyone else thinking about January? Was it a good start to the year, or do you wish it had been different? December was a bit of a bad month, so I don't think it took a lot for January to look shining in comparison. Plus, I bought books and I don't do that a lot anymore, so I am excited about it and all the parcels arriving in the mail. That is something you miss with e-books. Although, it is exciting to just plug your reader in and get a new book. Just not exactly the same...

Challenge News

This month I read A Lesson in Secrets by Jacqueline Winspear and The Sherlockian by Graham Moore which can both count for the Historical Fiction Challenge. Then, I finally read Witness in Death by J.D. Robb, the 10th book in the In Death series, which I consider sci-fi and am counting for the Sci-Fi Experience. Marg also challenged me to read it for the Great Reading Swap. I also finally carried on in the Chobits series and read volume 5, which counts for the Manga Challenge.

January has been a very good year, reading wise! I've knocked out - or am in the process of knocking out - some review books, which is putting me well on the way to my goal of being review commitment free (or mostly) by the summer. And I've liked all of the books I've read so far - and even loved a few of them. :)

  3. And, obviously, January was just a month, not a year. It's late and I'm tired. LOL

  4. I'm pleased with how Jan has gone. Often I only manage 2 or 3 books because I'm feeling rather apathetic after Christmas. This year I managed 6 so am very pleased with myself. I'm also a bit thrilled with the challenges I've joined. :-)

  5. Well, I've read more in January than I did in December, so I guess that's good. But damn, what I wouldn't do to have a month half as good as yours.

  7. Ooooh, I really want to read The Ghost in Love...curious to see what you think of it. Also, I'm happy with my January :) I read like 8 books and might get a 9th finished which is def a good month for me!! I think this month has gone SO SLOW!!! But of course I'm also dying for March 10th to get here so I can see Matt again :p

  9. Carrie: lol Glad you are enjoying your reading so far this year!

Cath: Glad to hear that Jan was a better month than normal for you. Hope it continues!

Debi: You just have more going on than I do... I don't have kids and I don't do any of the crafty stuff you do. :)

    Christina: Thanks!

Chris: Glad you had a good reading month. Don't worry, March will be here before you know it. I find February goes really really slow, though. We get a lot of storms and get sick of snow...

bookmagic: Maisie Dobbs is a great series. I really enjoy her character and the story. Hope you do get a chance to read more from her!
