Inter-Library Loan Overload!

I don't know what happened, but 9 ILL's came in for me at the SAME TIME!

Needless to say, while I do read fast I am not sure I can read all that in the time that they give you. So, pick for me!

A Fine and Private Place by Peter S. Beagle
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
Wise Children by Angela Carter
Dangerous Angels by Francesca Lia Block
Mirablilis by Susann Cokal
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
The Man in the Picture by Susan Hill
We Wish to Inform you that tomorrow we will be killed with our families by Philip Gourevitch
The Spiritualist by Megan Chance

That's just terrible. I am sad.

  2. Something Wicked This Way Comes is good. I'm pretty sure you's enjoy it. I haven't read the others but I'd definitely go for the Murakami.

  3. Difficult choices. I'd probably go for The Spiritualist because a few years ago a read a biography of the real life spiritualists, the famous Fox Sisters during the same period. It was a fascinating read!

  4. Lots of great books there, but I'll have to say A Fine and Private Place!

I haven't read any one them, but they all sound good. Enjoy!

  6. Kelly,

I'm reading Dangerous Angels at the moment and it'd make for a fantastic Buddy Review if you're up for it!

(Also nearly finished Plain Kate as well)

  7. OMG What a great list of books. Read quickly! LOL I vote you start with Wise Children, segue into The Man in the Picture, then head into The Spiritualist. But that's just me. ;)

  8. I have read zero of these books, so I can't advise you. Why did your library do this to you? Can you ascertain which of the books can be renewed and which ones not, and choose what to read first on that basis?

  9. I love, love, love Francesca Lia Block, so I'd have to say Dangerous Angels.

  10. Hahaha you're the reason there's never any books in the library. :P

I'd say Dangerous Angels but I am kinda bias there.

  11. Definitely read A Fine and Private Place! Oh, and have you read Tamsin by Beagle? Also excellent! But would you expect any less from the author of The Last Unicorn?

The Man in the Picture by Susan Hill would be my first choice (it's great ghost story plus I'm a big Susan Hill fan!) and The Spiritualist by Megan Chance would be my second choice. (I've wanted to read this book for time.)

  14. Of course they all arrive at once! I think librarians secretly do this :)

Enjoy your books. I want to hear you like The Spiritualist. That's one that's been on my list.

  15. I read Dangerous Angels a few years back and really enjoyed it. I hope you get a chance to read it so I can hear your thoughts on it when you finish :)

  16. Thanks everyone! I am going to try and read all of them... There was no clear winner, so apparently they are all good! I sort of knew that, that's why I ILL'd them, but it still annoys me they came in all at once and are not renewable!

  17. Well, I know from tumblr that you already started Norwegian Wood, so no need for my two cents. :P But I do hope you manage to get to them all, Kelly--the ones I've read are fantastic, and I'm willing to bet that all the others are, too!

  18. Well, I'm chiming in way late here! But you just *have* to squeeze in A Fine and Private Place. It's my favourite book by him. I'd love to read it again for the first time! It's a short, quick read too.

  19. Debi: Norwegian Wood was good... I wish I had more time. I am thinking I will read most of them, but maybe not all of them.

Nicola: I do really want to read A Fine and Private Place. I will try and squeeze it in!
