I haven't really read anything in a couple days! I kinda want to read Sarah Waters, but that is no where near anything that I am supposed to be reading. My library pile is crazy (31 books) and I have a few books on the go. Plus, I have buddy reviews that are sort of stalled because I haven't finished the book... I need to get on the ball here. I still haven't read the newest Patricia Briggs book! That is just scandalous behaviour for me!
In other news, I found out that one of my oldest friends is pregnant with her first child. I am still not sure that has entirely sunk in yet. She will be a great mother, but it is still hard to believe at the same time. I am all ready trying to decide what books to buy and the baby is not due for another 6 months... Wait, wow, that's just crazy! I have other friends that have children, but with this one I almost feel like it is the end of an era. Our lives are headed in different directions now and will never entirely be the same again. I am positive that I will never have children, but it doesn't mean I don't worry about how things will be when all my friends are parents and I am still not. Anyway, sorry about the strange direction my post has taken. Also, sorry Vanessa that this paragraph became about me instead of you. I am very happy for you and wish you all the best! And, the cc knows all about babies, so at least when we visit only one of us will be clueless!
Moving on...
I am very happy to see that Eva is back and blogging. Plus, she got a puppy! (I'm jealous! I want a puppy!) I am mostly just very happy that she is back around. It's been weird in the blogosphere without her for 6 weeks. Judging by the comments I have seen, she has been missed by all! Rightly so. :)
Speaking of jealous, did you see the pictures from Ana's trip to Ireland? I would love to go on a trip... Preferably to somewhere they don't know what snow is... Thankfully, we have had mild winter and maybe, just maybe, spring is here. Anything that means I don't have to shovel again for a few months...
I was tempted to say 'speaking of trips', but I am getting a bit redundant here. All I was going to say is that I am hoping that Chris is enjoying his trip. If my time zones are right he should be there by now!
Coming up on the blog, there will be buddy reviews with Darren from Bart's Bookshelf and Heather from A Capricious Reader. Very exciting stuff! With Darren it will be Plain Kate and with Heather it is Tender Morsels. I am very happy to be able to write a positive review of a book Ana suggested for me this time. Stay tuned for that! If I can stay away from Netflix for long enough there will be a couple more buddy reviews in the not so distant future. On that note, I am going to go read!
On the subject of buddy reads, don't forget that before the year is out you have to finally do one with me, Debi. I haven't forgotten!
hm, that reminds me that I have to buy Among Others because I found someone to buddy read it with, and, well, need the book to read it... That's my story and I am sticking to it!
And, yes, I ramble like this in real life, too.
rambling is good!
ReplyDeleteOh, and btw.. there is life without having kids. my friend DeForest and his wife Carolyn never had kids..they were the most "in love" couple I've ever known..so don't worry just be happy no matter what!
All of my friends are having kids. I feel really lonely.
ReplyDeleteI loved the pics that Ana posted..made me want to get on a plane and leave immediately!! I'm tired of winter too!
ReplyDeleteOh! You need to River Marked! It's absolutely wonderful and I'm even more in love with Mercy and Adam than I was before!
ReplyDeletecjh
I was in a reverse situation: I had kids and all my friends didn't. Sadly they didn't understand and now we're not friends. Oh well! I can't wait to read your buddy reviews with Darren and and Heather.
ReplyDeleteThese days people are more free to decide whether they want kids or not and that's as it should be. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou must get The Gruffalo for the new baby! Well... for when he or she is slightly older I mean.
*Pat: Thanks!
ReplyDelete*Brooke: Yeah, life changes with relationships, but then when you add kids it is entirely different again!
*Staci: It is really nice here today. Hopefully it means spring is here!
*cj: I started it. :)
*Vasilly: Yeah, it's my big worry that it will be the other way around. I still have no plans for children, but hopefully I can stay friends with everyone...
*Cath: haha, well, having the baby born would be a good plan, too. :)
One of my oldest friends is pregnant with her first child, too! I am very happy for her but I think it's probably going to change *my* life a lot, not being able to depend on her to drop by and hang out or meet me out somewhere the way that she used to. Sad, but hopefully the cute baby makes up for it :-)
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for you and Heather to review Tender Morsels!!!! :D And I promise--before the year is out. Now I just have to start reading again, huh?
ReplyDeleteI just have to say that I always enjoy rambling posts like this :) I don't know how you keep up with all of the buddy reviews you do but they are definitely fun to read!
ReplyDeleteI just skimmed several of your posts and am commenting here instead of all over!
ReplyDeleteI have no read River Marked. So far as I can tell my library isn't getting it! and I can't figure out how to request that they do. Will do ILL for it soon.
I also have Dash & Lily from ILL, so that has the be the very next thing I read, since it can't be renewed.
I'm thinking that you and I need to postpone our buddy read (unless your copy is ILL and hard to get again) since I am clearly not getting to it and am reading fluffier things.
*Aarti: Exactly! We are formulating plans for things it may be years before we get a chance to do them again!
ReplyDelete*Debi: Yes, reading is a good start. :)
*Samantha: Thanks!
*Lisa: This comment changed it all. lol I am glad we are still doing a buddy review. I forgot to add to it, though. Oops!
