Week in Review (13)

Random Thoughts

I wasn't going to post this because I just did my month in review yesterday, but I find these posts useful when I am looking for specific things. So, you will just have to put up with it. Or, not read it. Either option. Like I said in my month end post, this was the week of book purging. I took a huge amount of books to the second hand bookstore. This is problematic. It's good because I don't have to pay for books, but it is bad because I will have a very hard time not wanting to add even more books to my TBR pile. I am going to do some rearranging and such, so hopefully I can get things organized so I can resume reading my own books. I joined the library in 2009 because my books were disorganized, and since that hasn't really improved, I have gotten very slack with reading my own books. My TBR pile has been crazy for a while, but it is not really changing the last couple years. Getting things in order is my first priority in the book land.

Challenge News

The Great Reading Swap of 2011: We are about to start the read fourth month of the year and I have only read 5 books! Since some of them will work for the Once Upon a Time challenge, I should try and get to some of them in April.

Once Upon a Time V: I have read 2 books. One was this week when I read Charmed Life by Diana Wynne Jones. Movie-wise I have watched Inception and Sin City. I need to review some things, though. I have a non-fiction book on the go, but haven't finished it yet. I am only halfway through. As to the short story portion, I am reading collections, so while I have finished a bunch of short stories I am mostly waiting to finish the books before reviewing them.

Manga Challenge: I have read 4 books for this challenge. The most recent was One Piece Volume 4. I was stalled in that challenge since 2009. Finding out that there is 54 of them sort of makes me want to stall for a while... I only have to read two more, so that's pretty good.

2011 Aussie Author Challenge: I have read 1 book for this challenge: Tender Morsels by Margo Lanagan. That means that I have 2 more to go.

Historical Fiction Challenge 2011: I have to read 10 books and I have only read 2. That's so weird for me... I used to read lots and lots of historical fiction, but off to a slow start this year. Will have to do better!

Essay Reading Challenge: I finally figured out what I am going to read for this challenge, but I haven't actually done so yet.

Ireland Reading Challenge: Okay, so I was supposed to have finished a book for this challenge this week and I forgot to read it! So, I am still 0 for 2.

The TwentyEleven Challenge: I need to take some time and get myself organized with this challenge...

  2. I keep thinking I should put the challenges I'm participating in on my sidebar as I used to do in 2006; it's so nice to see what others are reading as you lay out for us! You're doing so well in fulfilling your challenges.

Wish I had a second-hand bookstore nearby. Instead, I just seem to donate my books to friends or Goodwill. I can see that if I went into a used book store it would be practically death for me! ;)

  3. *Carrie: I still feel terrible that I forgot about the book!

*Bellezza: Last time I got rid of books I donated them to the library... This time I decided to just get credit. It might not have been the best idea, but it will be fun. :)
