My New Bookcase

I said that I had a new bookshelf, so I thought I would show pictures. It's the best I could do because the shelf is in an awkward location. My shelf is arranged with really no rhyme or reason. I normally will not do this, but since it is just a small collection of the total amount of books I have, I went for a more artsy look.

The book that is cut off on the left is the new Carrie Ryan novel.

The piles on the left and the right are doubled-up... I suppose I should have taken two pictures to show the ones in behind. I also am trying to get all of Diana Wynne Jones' books with the same cover. It's my current project. I am also collecting Charles de Lint's Newford books and Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels.

This shelf is the only one that is a certain genre. This is non-fiction.

The books piled on the left are not doubled up. I look at it as room to grow, but then I do have more unread books.

I piled most of the hardcover books on the bottom shelf. It looks pretty, huh?

As you can see, the bottom shelf all ready has some spill-off. This is what happens when you get a few books in the mail and have credit at the bookstore. The two bottom books on the left are going to be there all the time, though. They are books to read slowly.

  3. Beautiful Kelly! It must feel so good to have some of your books with you now with their very own place to hang out until you're ready to read them. :D

  6. Gorgeous shelves! I'm constantly trying to rearrange mine to fit more books in. I like your way of pushing back narrow books and stacking other small books in front of them horizontally. I'll have to give that a go sometime...

  7. I love to see people's shelves. Yours are especially fun exactly because there's no order. I saw "Ireland" and on top "Tea Rose" and though you had an Irish theme going, but the next one was "Star Trek" LOL... or maybe it's a story about O'Brien? ;)

Great book shelves! I have one that is all alphabetical, and then the one shelf of my to be read next is a little more haphazard :)

If you want another one to add to the pile stop by for my giveaway - it's Diane Chamberlain's latest read which is perfect for the summer :)

  9. *Carrie: Thanks!

*Marg: I rearranged all the books still at my mothers, too. I was very accomplished. :) I will probably take pictures of that, too!

*Debi: Yes, I was pretty excited! I keep looking at it in amazement. Now, there are so many tempting books to read in plain sight. It's been a while, so overwhelming at times. I have also been having fun putting decorative items on the shelves. :)

*Cath: lol I lust after my own books. :)

    *Chris: Thanks!

*Kate: I use mass market books as bookends. They take up much less space and hold the books up for you...

*Alexandra: I know. I put the books on the shelf and then was going to rearrange once I made sure they all fit, but instead I just left them where they fell. It's not normally how I do things, but it is working so far.

    *Jen: Thanks!

*Clare: The rest of my books are organized. This is my only shelf that is not. :)

  14. *Li: The hardbacks shelf *is* pretty. :) It makes me happy.

*Pat: I really need to read Drood and it is actually the sequel to Name of the Wind on my shelf, but the page length scares me.

*She: I was supposed to read that earlier this year and never managed...

*Kim: It probably won't look neat and tidy for long...

*Ana: I am trying to avoid piles on the floor. So, I have been ignoring my library pile to decrease my TBR pile.

  22. **Anna: You should see it now. There is no longer any room for my library books, too. They reside on the floor.

**Michelle: I am glad that people visit my older posts. Maybe I will post a revised edition.
