What Are You Listening to Wednesday - Week 8

I am a bit late getting this post up, but I had a busier day than expected. Do you know what is a bad part of the day? When you go to pay a bill and it comes up declined. It doesn't matter that you know there is money in your account; it still freaks you out. That has happened to me 3 times now and every time it has just turned out to be the chip malfunctioning on my debit card. I tell you, whoever came up with chip technology needs a good crack in the head. You know that old technology where you swiped your card? My card would last years. With the new fancy technology I can't keep a debit card for more than a few months. And, there are some places that if your chip won't work you are out of luck because they refuse to enter it manually. Can you tell what was a part of my day today? On top of that my cell phone broke. I have the worst luck with cell phones. So, I had that fun stuff to take care of and since it was so annoying I decided to treat myself to a book. Wal-Mart had Cinder by Marissa Meyer and now I have a copy. I am well aware I do not need any more books, but moving on.

My project for the week was to explore Josh Groban's music. As many of you know, Suey and Deanna are HUGE fans. They get really excited about his music and post about it constantly. I have known Suey for a while, but when I saw 'know' I mean I was always aware of how she likes Josh Groban so much and every time I hear something about him I think of her. The thing is I had never really listened to a lot of his music before. I knew who he was and randomly owned his Christmas CD, but that was about as far as it went.

If you asked me to name a Josh Groban song before I would only easily be able to think of 'Believe' because it was on the Polar Express soundtrack. I think it is a great song so I have no idea why I didn't look into other things by him in more detail.

It is a bit of a sad song, but that's okay. That is why there is a next generation; so you can recapture the magic of Christmas through them. This post actually is taking a long time because I find myself watching the videos I am posting instead of typing up a post! Anyway, moving on... I decided that it was about time that I listened to more from Josh Groban and I told Suey that I was going to make it a future project. I decided it was a great way to start out new year, though, because I was listening to his Christmas music during the holidays and now I can follow it with his other music. I have come to the conclusion that I actually rather enjoy Josh's music. I am planning to put together some play lists for my car and background noise in the house. I think I have been missing out by now listening to him before now. And now, for some videos...

While looking for something else, I found this really fun video from the Ellen Show. I loved it and had to share:

One of the few songs by Josh that I always enjoyed, but was never sure which song it was, is 'When You Say You Love Me'. I think it is a very nice song!

Then, on Twitter the other night I was having a Josh related conversation with Suey and she shared this video with me. I also think it is a lot of fun and had to share. I also really should try some Michael Buble music... He is widely famous and I have no idea what he even sings...

All in all, this was a successful week of music listening! Thanks Suey!

  1. Awesome post! :) I'm so glad that you are giving his other stuff a try. I love his Christmas stuff, but it always makes me sad when that's all people know of him.

So what other songs have you listened to? Any others jumping in on your radar yet?

It cracks me up that you think of me when you hear about him! I wonder how many other random blogger friends do the same thing? Sheesh, have I really been THAT vocal about my Josh Groban love? It's a little embarrassing... but then again, it's fun to share passions, so I'm predicting my vocalness will continue!

Should I start throwing Michael Buble songs your way? Here's a really fun video for a recent-ish song of his:

    1. My first threaded comment. Yay!

I am not even entirely sure why I have his Christmas album. I am thinking it must have came out around when 'Believe' was popular?

Well, I also enjoy 'You Raise Me Up', but I had heard that song before, too. There are no songs by him that I don't like really. He is perfect to have on when I am blog hopping or whatever because it is nice background noise and occasionally I stop and listen.

Well, you are just very aware of what you enjoy. I also think of you in connection in Markus Zusak. There are not many bloggers that I know so well that I am well aware of their likes to the point I think of them when I see something. :)

Yes, I will start listening to Michael Buble over the next little while and then maybe post about him at some point.

  2. My aunt is * obsessed* with Josh Groban - she thinks that he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. :p

I gotta say though, he is pretty damn good ...

Nice post - and the Ellen thing. Awesomeness :)

    1. He is pretty great. It is just not the music that I normally gravitate towards.

And yes, the Ellen this is awesome!

  4. When we lived in France 20 years ago, they used chips on their cards and we never had a problem. They haven't made it to the US - well, at least to the bank we use. I hope they get things figured out soon!

    1. Really? I think my issues are my bank and not so much the technology. I know that at work the cards we have the worst time with are also from my bank. I was just in a cranky mood yesterday because I went to pay a bill and it said 'declined' and it was all my cards fault...

  5. I know less than you about Groban - I don't think I've heard his Christmas album or was aware it was him. Actually, I think of that bit in a comedy routine with Matt Damon by that comedienne chick who is over the top (married to the guy I also can't recall the name but he was on a show that had girls on trampolines, anyhoosie). I am not a Buble fan either.

I have been listening to the adult alternative music channel on the TV and really like what they feature. No Groban that I have noticed.

    1. I still have no idea why I own his Christmas album.. Girls on trampolines? hm, I have no idea what you are talking about!

I listen to adult alternative on the radio and no Groban there either...

  8. I'm sad to say that I haven't really listened to a lot of Groban's music other than his Christmas album--though I LOVE his Christmas stuff.

    1. Until recently I had only really listened to his Christmas music, too. It was fun to branch out a bit. :)
