Weekend Cooking - Cake Pops

These are Cake Pop Cards. I had no idea what they even were, but I won a prize for Armchair BEA and had no idea what to even get. I even considered not getting anything, but Chris pointed out these sound cute. Sure, I have nothing else in mind...  They arrived in the mail, I glanced through them, took this picture, and then they sat on my coffee table for a while. I am atrocious at getting around to mailing things, but didn't want to waste them. So, I sat down the other day and started writing. I ran out of cards... I only sent out 18 of them. I kept the Valentine ones. I was just online browsing to see if I could get more because I have more people that I want to share the cuteness with. This lead to research... Like, there is a book on how to make your own:
I guess I knew they were called Cake Pops for a reason, but that is as far as that went... Now I am impressed and wish I was talented enough to make my own!

This lead to me going to the website of Bakerella and browsing all the fun ideas. There are Halloween ones right now that look like Candy Corn and Spiders for Halloween. And, she tells you how to make your own! She has a book coming out for the holidays that has stockings, wreaths, polar bears,  and gingerbread cookies just to name a few.

I am particularly fond of the ones she made for The Muppets.

They are so cute! I hope the Christmas book leads to Christmas cards... And, I hope that this unexpected post leads to you making Cake Pops of your own. If you do, share pictures!

  3. How cute these are! I wish they had been around when my sons were young, they would have been perfect for school parties.

  4. I have this book and I LOVE it. Unfortunately, I've been to lazy to make them. They really aren't that difficult, just maybe a bit time consuming.

  5. A friend at work said she was going to try making Cake Pops this weekend. We have that book at the library and I have looked through it, but I know mine would never come out looking anything like the beautiful ones in the pictures!

  6. Wow. Those look too pretty to eat. A nice way to make a sweet snack in a small serving size though. Hmmm. Maybe I should consider this more carefully.

  7. I got my owl cake pop card! LOVE IT!!! It's always so much fun to receive "real" mail and not just junk. Greyson will be home today and I know he'll love his lobster card! :D

I have the Bakerella cake pop cookbook and it's awesome! I haven't gotten motivated enough to make anything intricate, but basic pops are awesome. Will be making some creative smores-themed ones for Greyson's school this week. :)

Aww, the little popcorn pops are adorable. I saw a cake pop maker (like a waffle maker) at Kohl's today...cake pops are evidently the "it" thing right now.

  11. I'm glad the cards were such a success! They really are adorable. I don't think I have the talent to make the real thing though.

  12. LOL! I've had this post in reader for so long and I've been looking forward to the moment when I could sit down and read about your making cake pops. To find out they're POST CARDS?!?! ;) I actually JUST bought this book at Target a few weeks ago. But they look hard and melty chocolate is not my thing. But they do look gorgeous, don't they?
