Sunday Book Coveting - November 25, 2012

So, on Friday I thought "I wonder if Bookcloseouts is having their Cyber Monday sale this year?" And then I decided to look.... BAD idea! They were having their sale for four days only this year. This lead to 'window shopping' and making a cart of books I would like to have. I thought it would be fun and then I could just delete and carry on with life... um, well, no, no I can't. It is possible that I maybe, possibly pushed 'purchase order'.  I did the sale last year, too, and then I vlogged when they arrived.

Since I lack any and all will-power, I thought I would share what I got... Some might not actually arrive. I know there were a couple that there were only a few copies left and I might not be one of the lucky ones... But, we shall see...
My friend loves Fiona McIntosh. I am determined to read her next year and I have book one on my TBR pile all ready. Decided that I should take advantage of getting book 2.

Sara Douglass' last book. *sniff* This is part of the reason why I went through with the purchase. I was going to get this book after Christmas with my gift cards... And for a lot more money!

This wasn't something I had to have, the reviews have been mixed, but I wanted to try it for myself.

A book that I believe Wendy from Musings of a Bookish Kitty suggested. I really like the cover...

I keep buying Jude Morgan books because they sound good... Now to actually read one...

I want to say Eva for this recommendation... Although I have seen it around the blogosphere in general.

This has been on my wish list FOREVER! I was so excited when it was on there.

The sequel, too!

I always look for Charles de Lint. No idea what this even is... But, de Lint!

Another author I keep hearing all sorts about, but haven't read myself...

I know nothing about this one, but it lived through the purge... Just drawn to it for some reason.

This was on last years list, but it got taken off by something else shiny... Last year I spent forever going through books. This year I didn't so much...

Not my usual affair, but I couldn't resist... I have been curious for years.

oops, turns out this is book two... I just thought it sounded good.

I love this duo!!

Again drawn to the cover...

I have read this de Lint, but don't own it. Decided now was a good time to add it to the collection.

Another de Lint. I own Moonheart and this is the sequel.

I was excited to see this on here. I enjoyed Shades of Milk and Honey, but this has got mixed reviews. At least if I don't like it I didn't pay a lot. Plus, love the cover!

This made the blogging rounds a bit this year. I read my first Bledsoe for a TLC Book Tour and enjoyed it. Figured I would try something else!

I am not sure where I heard of this book, but it is on my wish list and it sounds really good!

Memory literally just posted about this on her blog and I decided to see if it was available. Yay, how that worked out!

I am reading this right now and loving it. I don't actually own it, though, so I knew I had to take advantage of this being on here! Yay!

Keep meaning to try Elizabeth Bear... Hope this isn't terrible... At least it is book 1!

Like I said above, I really like this duo...

I actually got this book last year, but it was sold out and I never actually received a copy. This year there are 30 copies, so fingers crossed!

I have been reading some random Carrie Vaughn lately and having fun with them. I thought I would give this a try.

This is part of the series by Alex Bledsoe that I mentioned I had started. Sadly there were only two copies left, so not sure if I will actually get this one...

I saw this book make the blogging rounds and was curious...

Another McKillip... Now to actually read a book by her!!

This is Memory's fault... She was on Twitter...
I have what turns out to be the sequel to this. I obviously wanted to get book 1 even though I am told they can be read alone.
Memory again...
More Parker... More Memory...
I will need book 3, but I REALLY like this cover, so yep, bought it anyway...
And a wish list find... I almost want to say Aarti, but maybe I am wrong...

Yep, so this was a very big splurge... Even with shipping, though, it really wasn't that bad money-wise... I will spend more money on new books after Christmas when I do my annual pre-orders and get a lot less for it... I am wicked excited, though! Now, to actually get back into reading!!

  6. Sunday book coveting is right!!! I'm glad I own all the Charles de Lint already...I'm working on Muse and Reverie, though I think I need to start over again - I want to sit down and read it through. And I own the Patricia McKillip (have to read both, though). Mulengro is nice and a little dark, by the way, lots of fun, I really enjoyed it when I read it (some years ago). I have Bellfield Hall and have to read it, I want Except the Queen and Jude Morgan - I must read her books, I own one (the Bronte sisters) and what I want is the Romantic poets and it's not available anywhere :-)

You have a wonderful haul of books, Kailana, enjoy!!!

  8. I love this! That is a hell of a stack. The only thing better than buying books is getting to open the packages!

  9. Wow there is a ton of excellent stuff there! and a deLint i'm not familiar with, i must go learn about that title! so many good books. . . all I can say was Bledsoe's The Hum and the Shiver was insanely good, and Gene Wolfe's An Evil Guest was insanely weird.

  13. What a great haul! I haven't bought more than one book at a time in ages.

I have The Bell at Sealey Head by Patricia McKillip. My friend gave it to me a couple of years ago knowing I am a romance reader but also enjoy fantasy.

I read Except the Queen! I loved it!

I've always wanted to read Elizabeth Bear, too. Hope you like the one you picked up.

  14. Holy cow! That's quite the load, and some great authors there too. McKillip is a favorite, as is de Lint. And I love Bledsoe's Eddie LaCrosse series. Good stuff!
