Nonfiction November - Be the Expert/Ask the Expert/Become the Expert

Be The Expert/Ask the Expert/Become the Expert: Three ways to join in this week! You can either share 3 or more books on a single topic that you have read and can recommend (be the expert), you can put the call out for good nonfiction on a specific topic that you have been dying to read (ask the expert), or you can create your own list of books on a topic that you’d like to read (become the expert).

I enjoy two aspects of history above all else: Titanic and WWII. I will actively grab a book that concerns either...

Some good WWII books are:

And many others...

What World War II Books have you enjoyed over the years?

  1. I think my favorite nonfiction books about WWII are Between Silk and Cyanide: A Codebreaker's War; Unbroken; Operation Mincemeat: How a Dead Man and a Bizarre Plan Fooled the Nazis and Assured an Allied Victory (whata title, huh?); Citizens of London; and The Secret Lives of Codebreakers: The Men and Women Who Broke the Enigma Code at Bletchley Park. Great nonfiction about a fascinating time!

  2. The Book Thief is one of my favorite World War II books but it's fiction. I can't think of a nonfiction one off the top of my head.

  3. Naturally, my mind is a total blank. I just checked my databases and this is all I found. I haven't read it: Indestructible by John R. Bruning

  4. World War II books are ones I grab up too!!!! I've been actively reading on the subject for about eighteen years now!!! So it's not a passing fad, I suppose :)

Have you read Mitchell Zuckoff's Frozen in Time?! It is GREAT.

And When Books Went To War by Molly Guptill Manning is definitely one I'd recommend!

  5. I like that you have such a wide variety of takes on WWII with these three books! I enjoy reading about WWII, but sometime get burnt out on it because of how many fiction and nonfiction books are written on the topic. Finding a new spin on WWII history is one of the things that will get me interested again.

This is great. I would like to read more on WWII, but my husband is a big reader of history, particularly war books, so I will pass the recommendations on.
