Book Releases

Alrighty, so my reading lists are going to be influenced by new releases!

Well, for starters, on September 26, Mary Lawson (a Canadian author) has a new book coming out. The author of "Crow Lake", I was very excited to see The Other Side of the Bridge coming out.

Then, I have to read a David Gemmell book on Troy in preparation for his new book. The one I have to read is Lord of the Silver Bow. If anyone has not noticed, I adore Arthur and Troy as my mythological/fantastic historical fiction. The sequel, Shield of Thunderis out October 24.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is getting book 4, out in the new year. Save your Christmas money for this one. I plan to reread the first three books in preparation because last time I read them, I borrowed them, this time I will own all four of them. I also heard rumours that she has an adult book coming out in the fall.

At the end of November a new Jane mystery by Stephanie Barron is coming out. I really need to get trucking on her, because while I enjoy her books, I have been a little scarce in reading them! The new book is titled Jane and the Barque of Frailty. I think it is book 6. That means I have to read, you know what, I will keep that between me and the book store... I strongly suggest them, hey, you might even try reading the actual Jane Austen as well... wouldn't that be fun?

There is also the new Sara Donati book out in the fall, Queen of Swords. She is another one of the authors that I really really like... I just have some catching up to do! *braces herself* I personally have had better luck with her than Diana Gabaldon. (Don't hurt me.) And, she announced somewhere, probably her blog, that there will be one more book after that. (The second book takes place partly in CANADA! Yes, I am loyal to my country.)

I am so excited to also point out that David Adams Richards, one of my absolute FAVOURITE Canadian authors is putting out a new book! The new books will be out in September, and I got so excited I pulled out a book by him this morning. I just love him. Not that I don't love a million other authors, but anyways. The book is called The Friends of Meager Fortune. I am beside myself in excitement.

And that is just SOME of the books I am excited about. There is also The Thirteenth Tale, a new book by Mark Haddon (The Curious Incident of the Dog....) called A Spot of Bother, a new Barbara Hambly, a new Sebastian Faulks, Shopaholic strikes again in the New Year (this time with a baby!), and Juliet Mariller releases a young adult book (I have her Sevenwaters trilogy to read) called Wildwood Dancing in the New Year as well.

Right, so I am going to be busy this month trying to get stuff out of the way in anticipation of new releases.

  1. Woah! That's a lot of reading you're planning on.
I just plan a month ahead, unless a release date is smashed into my unobservant brain a million times. LOL

  2. Well, I used to be like that too, then I discovered Random House. I am getting all of these from them...

  3. I looked ahead at September's releases for RH too. And I put my order in for August books. Meanwhile, I'm still reading books I received in July.

I've been really slow reading, for all of July and now that's carrying over into August. It bums me out.

  4. I am still waiting for the two books I ordered like a month ago. I don't think anyone really knows what happened to them. So, they were reordered, and now I have to wait some more. In the meantime, I got books I wasn't expecting to get, so need to read them at some point.

  5. That sucks! But you did get books you weren't expecting. What were they?

  6. Well, I worded that wrong. I was expecting to get them, but I ordered them AFTER the other two books, so I was expecting the other two books before I got them. And they were a Sara Donati book (really need to read some more of her) and a sequel to a book that I read last summer.

  7. Thanks for the wonderful news! I've read Crow Lake twice and absolutely loved it both times. I am thrilled Lawson has written another book and I plan to buy it the day it lays down (hopefully the same day here in the States as in Canada 9/26).

    Doing a Snoopy happy dance!

  8. Yeah, me and one of my friends are the same! We both loved Crow Lake. She bought it, I borrowed it, and then I had to go buy my own copy. I would like to reread it before her new one comes out, but unfortunately there are more books that I want to read than hours in the day. I hope that you are able to get it when it comes out, maybe check amazon.com to see the release date in the US.

  9. I can't wait to read 'The Thirteenth Tale' - it looks so good and I love the cover art! I didn't know Mark Haddon had a new book coming out - thanks for the heads up!

  10. Mark Haddon also has another book out, I think it is a collection of short stories. I know it is a collection of something.

And I can't wait until The Thirteenth Tale either!

  11. I tend to be a paperback girl, except for special must-haves, so will have to wait a bit longer. But thanks for the heads-up about Mary Lawson. I also enjoyed Crow Lake and will be interested to read her next book.
And would you believe I've yet to read anything by David Adams Richards although I do have a couple waiting in my stacks. Must try to rectify that soon.

  12. Yeah, I am a paperback girl too for the most part, but exceptions can be made. Especially with things like amazon and how they give good discounts. :)

  13. The other Mark Haddon is a book of poetry and it's called "The Talking Horse and the Sad Girl and the Village Under the Sea" (http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/0385662130/701-4443563-5330748?v=glance&n=916520&v=glance). I haven't read it yet but it's on my list...but then again, what isn't on my list?
