Top 28 Books that Bloggers Cannot Do Without

It my neck of the woods it is the fifteenth, and you know what that means, I post the offical list for the books that bloggers cannot live without! I chose only books that received more than two votes, but I will post the books that recieved two votes and one vote in the coming days. I sort of have a plan.

3. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
4. Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery

7. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
8. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
9. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

25. Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
26. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
27. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
28. Charlotte's Web by E.B. White

This was really fun. My thanks to EVERYONE that joined in. What do you think of the list? Are there surprises? Are there books that should be there and are not? Do you think it is a good representation?

So, to show my appreciation, I got someone to choose a number between one and 48 (that's how many lists I received), and the winner is going to get to pick one of the books on the list of 28 that they would like to read. If you do not want to read any of them, you can pick a new number. The only catch is that you have to wait until May to receive your book because I am in exam-land, and cannot be expected to think coherently until then.

Anyways, the winner is number three:

Stephanie from Stephanie's Confessions of a Book-a-holic. Just let me know which book you want and I will ship it to you when I get the chance!

**** This list has been updated slightly because I forgot a list. My apologies to Caelum-Amo from Identity. I meant to save your blog for later, but I forgot to go back to it!

Cool I've read 13 of the books on the list! I have had a few people recommend The Book Thief to me recently, might have to get it when I get paid this month.

  4. Great list! Of course I'd have to throw some Gaiman on there, and Dracula.

  7. I thought I had commented.

Anyway, I'm glad Summer Sisters made it to this list. :P And some of those books I have in my TBR pile, so I'm looking forward to some good reading.

Great list. I've read more than I thought, but my TBR list just got longer.

Oh the Blue Castle. AWESOME book. One of my all-time favourites.

I'm vaguely surprised that The Three Musketeers didn't make the list along with the Count of Monte Cristo...

  13. I've also read quite a few of those. The only ones that really surprised me were Twilight and New Moon. Good books, but not really "can't live without", unless it's due to their obsessive nature...

The rest of it is pretty predictable and safe. Not that that's a bad thing. :)

  14. Great list - thanks for all the work you did to put it together. Very interesting list: a few series, some classics, some newer. And two from LM Montgomery, woo hoo. I simply must read Jane Eyre -it's on every list of favorite books.

  15. I'm surprised that Twilight and New Moon made it on the list. Good grief! That's not to say they were fun to read, but they don't even compare with most of the others. I'm sorry that Poisonwood Bible didn't make it.

  16. I meant to add that this was a great idea and thanks for doing it. It's fun to see the results. And how nice of you to include a drawing.

    Congrats to Stephanie!

  17. I so agree on these choices of yours: the Bible, Possession, Anna Karenina and Charlotte's Web. None of them are even remotely related, and yet each are near and dear to my heart. I like reading your list!

This looks like it was a lot of fun! Too bad I missed it. I hope you'll do it again.

(By the way, I found your blog through a.book.in.the.life's blog.)

  20. My Wanted list just expanded again - I've read or started to read only 16 of these. I must dig The Scarlet Letter out of my TBR box soon if it's that good.
