Ten Books You Cannot Live Without

***This a sticky post, please scroll down to see new posts***

This is just a reminder to people to join in on the Blogger List of Books They Cannot Live Without. I think this could be fun and interesting to see what books get the top spots. The final number will depend on how many people participate and how often there are duplicates in books.

Also, do not forget that it would be best to only include books that you have read, and they do not have to be your favourite books of all time, just the books that you think that you or the world could not be without. Try and limit yourself to ten, but if you need one or two extra, like for a Thursday Thirteen, that would be fine. Try not to go overboard!

The chance to join will run for a month, that will give people time to decide what they want to include on their lists, so get your thinking caps on! And, be sure if you join in you let me know somehow, preferably by commenting on my blog. Hopefully if people start joining word of mouth will carry and we can get even more people joining in.

Kailana: Where do I go to do this. I have been dying for years to be able to put up a definitive list of books I cannot live without and haven't been able to... there's absolutely too many to list. At any rate, please let me know.

Hey - I just read your list and love your series trend. I've noticed when I try to list top films I usually veer off into miniseries instead. British miniseries, that is... I really love spending time with my favorite characters, and series do the trick!

Hey Kailana ;D Here are my 10 books!

Hey Kailana,

I'm working on mine, but I've gotta tell you, picking just TEN books to live without is extremely hard for me...since I dont want to live without ANY of my favorites! haha.

I'll let you know when I finish mine and post it though!

Hugs,
Dylan

I am sure my list will not be what you might had in mind! These are books 'I' couldn't live without and they have nothing to do with great writing.

Amelia said...

Hi Kailana! Thanks for doing this :) As tough as it was to narrow it down to just ten(very, very tough), it also brought back a lot of great memories.

Here is my list:

A heads up. Amelia's link isn't working.

Bookfool said...

It took me forever to come up with just ten and then I kind of snuck a couple extras in. ;) Here's my list

http://bookfoolery.blogspot.com/2007/03/friday-five-foolery-five-favorites.html

It started out as a list of five and kept growing, so ignore the "Friday Five" within the link.

Melanie said...

Like everyone says, it was hard to limit it to 10! But so much fun to try. My list is up on my site.

Caelum-Amo said...

I'm getting my list together and should be posting it in the next couple of days at personalid.blogspot.com

I managed to pare it down to ten books. This is a challenging and thought-provoking idea! Thanks for putting it out there! I enjoy reading the lists to get ideas for books to add to my TBR list!

Sending another blogger your way soon from,

Cannot wait to see the final list and can't wait to get stuck into some of the books listed so far.

How do you fancy top 10 albums next, or bloggers island disks?!?

Kailana said...

I'd do another one with music if there was enough interest. The master list is interesting, but I have lost track of the winners myself. It will be fun putting everything together!

Hello! My Mum has recently joined the blogosphere (http://bowledoverandout.blogspot.com/) and wanted to join in the bloggers book list but has had trouble getting her list to you so I am adding it via this comment.
Can you add the books to your list and add her to the list of participants? I am going home soon and will see what the problem was but in the meantime I wanted to make sure her list got to you in time. Thanks so much, her books are:

The Runes of The Earth, Stephen Donaldson

Signs of Life - Gaia, James Lovelock

Stories From Shakespear, The Complete Plays

Vanity Fair, Thackeray

Mustn't Grumble, Terry Wogan

Middlemarch, George Elliot

Wessex Tales, Thomas Hardy

I Claudius and Claudius the God, Robert Graves

Soul Mountain, Guo Xingjian

Don Quixote, Cervantes

My thanks again and good luck putting the list together.
