This is just a reminder to people to join in on the Blogger List of Books They Cannot Live Without. I think this could be fun and interesting to see what books get the top spots. The final number will depend on how many people participate and how often there are duplicates in books.
Also, do not forget that it would be best to only include books that you have read, and they do not have to be your favourite books of all time, just the books that you think that you or the world could not be without. Try and limit yourself to ten, but if you need one or two extra, like for a Thursday Thirteen, that would be fine. Try not to go overboard!
The chance to join will run for a month, that will give people time to decide what they want to include on their lists, so get your thinking caps on! And, be sure if you join in you let me know somehow, preferably by commenting on my blog. Hopefully if people start joining word of mouth will carry and we can get even more people joining in.

As you wish.....my list is posted on my site. You can see it Here:
ReplyDeleteHi Kailana! Julia left her list on my comments page, if you want to have a look.
ReplyDeleteHey Kailana! I'm sorry I haven't done it yet.. tomorrow, promise!
ReplyDeleteKailana: Where do I go to do this. I have been dying for years to be able to put up a definitive list of books I cannot live without and haven't been able to... there's absolutely too many to list. At any rate, please let me know.
ReplyDeleteHey - I just read your list and love your series trend. I've noticed when I try to list top films I usually veer off into miniseries instead. British miniseries, that is... I really love spending time with my favorite characters, and series do the trick!
ReplyDeleteHey Kailana ;D Here are my 10 books!
ReplyDeletehttp://natuschan.blogspot.com/2007/03/ten-books-i-couldnt-live-without.html
Fun!!!! I've got my list posted here.
ReplyDeleteI will post my list on my blog at some point, but in the meantime here they are:
ReplyDelete1. The Bible
2. Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery - this was a re-read for me during my younger years
3. Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis - especially The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
4. A Woman's Journey to the Heart of God by Cynthia Heald - one of my all-time favorite books
5. The Atonement Child by Francine Rivers - this book really impacted me when I read it
6. Third Culture Kids by David Pollock, Ruth van Reken - very impactful for my life
7. Scamps, Scholars and Saints compiled by the Dyers - a collection of poems and stories by MKs and TCKs
8. Quality Friendship by Gary Inrig - excellent, excellent book on friendship
9. Ice by Shane Johnson - this book really impacted me, even though it's fiction
10. Shannara series by Terry Brooks - some of my all-time favorite books
Here is mine.

Just finished posting mine :)
ReplyDeleteSure, you can use mine!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
I threw in the towel at #10 because there were too many titles crowding in my head for that spot! :)
ReplyDeleteYou can find my list at:

This was fun! Thanks!
Will try to squeeze something in early next week. I've been just flattened lately...
ReplyDeleteI love to play games like this. I've done something like this before, but I've reposted it here

ReplyDeletehttp://bookschatterblog.blogspot.com/2007/03/ten-thirteen-books-i-couldnt-live.html

Hi! I love this idea. I found out about it via Susan aka WestofMars and had to do my own list.
ReplyDeleteI think there's a max of two of mine that could mesh with others/ What can I say, I like being unique :)
My list will be posted on my site. And you're right, this IS fun!!
ReplyDeletehttp://apatchworkofbooks.blogspot.com
I am loving reading everyone's lists too! The first thing I do if I have been out and come home is to check and see if I got anymore! So, people should keep sending them in! We have an interesting list so far. :)
ReplyDeleteHello! Well you have really started something! I have finished my list, you can find it under 'In The Pink' Top Ten Books or Bloggers Top Ten Books posted on 24th March 2007.
ReplyDeleteOk, I did my ten. But I want to change my mind already. LOL
ReplyDeleteHey there Kailana!

ReplyDeletehttp://www.sheilaomalley.com/archives/007833.html
Hello! Great idea! I was sent to you by the tage list on "In the Pink", my list can be found at cagedminutes.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHey Kailana,
ReplyDeleteI'm working on mine, but I've gotta tell you, picking just TEN books to live without is extremely hard for me...since I dont want to live without ANY of my favorites! haha.
I'll let you know when I finish mine and post it though!
Hugs,
Dylan
thanks to everyone that has joined in!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your list, Dylan, and anyone else that is lurking in the shadows. :)
That was a tough list, but I got one posted! I did it as a Thursday Thirteen in hopes of making it a little easier, but it wasn't!
ReplyDeletehttp://myreadingbooks.blogspot.com/index.html
I am sure my list will not be what you might had in mind! These are books 'I' couldn't live without and they have nothing to do with great writing.
ReplyDeleteHi Kailana! Thanks for doing this :) As tough as it was to narrow it down to just ten(very, very tough), it also brought back a lot of great memories.
ReplyDeleteHere is my list:
http://ameliaspassion.blogspot.com/2007/03/ten-books-i-cant-live-without.html
Hi Kailana,
ReplyDeleteI've joined in too. Just posted my list:
http://jenniesbooklog.blogspot.com/2007/03/10-books-i-couldnt-live-without.html
Thanks!
A heads up. Amelia's link isn't working.
ReplyDeleteIt took me forever to come up with just ten and then I kind of snuck a couple extras in. ;) Here's my list
ReplyDeletehttp://bookfoolery.blogspot.com/2007/03/friday-five-foolery-five-favorites.html
It started out as a list of five and kept growing, so ignore the "Friday Five" within the link.
Like everyone says, it was hard to limit it to 10! But so much fun to try. My list is up on my site.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting my list together and should be posting it in the next couple of days at personalid.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI managed to pare it down to ten books. This is a challenging and thought-provoking idea! Thanks for putting it out there! I enjoy reading the lists to get ideas for books to add to my TBR list!
ReplyDelete:)
My list is posted

Okay...you forced me to be selective *grins* I added an addendum and listed a couple of specific Steinbeck novels:

At last, at last, at last! And I did manage to get it down to just 10 (I'm very impressed with myself). My long-awaited list is here.
ReplyDeleteI put a list in my blog http://practicingstillness.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThis was hard then it seemed at first thought. I might change my mind by tomarrow.
My list is on my site at Rhinoa's Ramblings and I put a link back here.
ReplyDeleteI put my list on my site:
ReplyDeletewww.bassetknitter.blogspot.com
Sending another blogger your way soon from,
ReplyDeletehttp://bowledoverandout.blogspot.com/
Cannot wait to see the final list and can't wait to get stuck into some of the books listed so far.
How do you fancy top 10 albums next, or bloggers island disks?!?
I'd do another one with music if there was enough interest. The master list is interesting, but I have lost track of the winners myself. It will be fun putting everything together!
ReplyDeleteThis is fun and interesting, thanks! My blog/list is at: http://stitchesmayvary.blogspot.com/2007/04/10-books-i-cant-live-without.html
ReplyDeleteHere is my list...enjoy (I hope)!

Hello! My Mum has recently joined the blogosphere (http://bowledoverandout.blogspot.com/) and wanted to join in the bloggers book list but has had trouble getting her list to you so I am adding it via this comment.
ReplyDeleteCan you add the books to your list and add her to the list of participants? I am going home soon and will see what the problem was but in the meantime I wanted to make sure her list got to you in time. Thanks so much, her books are:
