7 Things I Love (Aside from Books)

Cath and Pat both did this meme and since I like never have anything to talk about lately, I thought I would share more about me! Fun, I know!

7 Things I Love (Aside from Books)

1. My computer. Even if I have been pretty quiet lately, I miss the conversations that I normally have on here! I know so many people just from getting bored one day and starting a blog...

2. History. Though I majored in English in university, history is and always will be my first love. Nothing gives me more of a thrill than reading history books... I am not even kidding! I didn't read enough this year, though. I hope to do better in 2010.

3. Canada. I am very proud to be Canadian. I love Canadian History and Canadian Literature and Canadian music... I pretty much like everything Canadian. We are not perfect, but I really wouldn't choose to live anywhere else in the world. It's a shame, though, because the economy sucks right now and I probably SHOULD go elsewhere...

4. Trips! Most of my trips the last couple years have been day trips, but they are fun! I enjoy getting out of the norm from time to time. Me and the cc are always on the road. Is gas expensive? Yes! Should we go places less? Probably... but I don't want to! You only live once!

5. Music. I will never be a music junkie, but it is still very important to me for relaxing reasons. When I am overwhelmed with things music always makes me feel better. It also helps with things I don't like... cleaning and cooking.

6. Order. My books, movies, etc are in PERFECT order. My sister thought she would be nice once and she REARRANGED my books. I was horrified. Her boyfriend thought I looked like I was going to cry... But, it drove me crazy! I had to rearrange them back to the way they were.

7. Water. I couldn't imagine not being away from the water... I also like lighthouses, sailing ships, and other ocean-related things. I don't like to swim, though... And, well, I don't really like to DRINK water. I just like living near it.

7 Things I DON'T Love

1. Hot Dogs and sausages. I think this explains itself. How do people eat these things? Yes, I probably eat lots of other stuff that is equally as disgusting, but gross.

2. Slow people. I am way too impatient for my own good, I know. I do TRY, but I hate waiting around for people! This applies to traffic... I want to at least go the speed limit people!

3. Shoveling snow. I hate, hate, hate shoveling snow! I can handle snow, but I hate that you have to shovel it. It takes forever and is just a pain.

This is hard... I am not in a cranky enough mood for hateful things...

4. Crowds. I did not go near the malls on Christmas Eve, or most days leading up to it, because of this fact. I feel closed in and I hate it. It also lends to the slow people and other general annoyances... I would not live through Black Friday!

5. Cooking. I am a lot better than I used to be, and I have experimented a bit, but generally I hate cooking and wish I didn't have to do it!

6. Cleaning. I think this is a most people thing, right? I don't mind laundry and a few other things, but I hate vacuuming and doing the dishes.

7. I thought I was done with the last one. *thinks* Mornings. I am not a morning person. I prefer staying up late and sleeping in the next morning...

  2. What great answers! I love living in Canada too. Now that I live here I can't imagine living anywhere else. Oh and I agree with you on the shovelling snow. My first two years in Canada I lived in a condo and now I have to shovel snow since we're in a house! It's awful exercise!

  3. I am determined that my husband keep his Canadian citizenship, in case we need to flee north...I have taught the children its national anthem, so they are prepared.

  4. I love posts like this. I feel like I get to know the person behind the blog just a little better. :-)

I think I'd have to put my computer on the list too. Not just for the hunk of metal and plastic it is, but the people, like you've, I've had the chance to connect with.

I'm right there with you when it comes to hot dogs and sausages. Oh, and I hate cooking too. :-(

  5. I think the economy sucks everywhere. Might as well stay in Canada!

I love history, too. I've always wished I could go back in time for a visit, just to see what it was really like.

  6. I enjoyed reading your list. I hate hot dogs, too, but we have them every now and again because my husband likes them...EW! Since getting my laptop, I've realized just how much I love my computer.

  7. It's fun to read memes like that because they do shed a lot of light on a person behind a blog, you in this case.
I am a little different with things you love (I am not crazy about music at all and I see computer as a necessity more than something I love). I do however love water (living near it, listening to it, not necessarily drinking it).

  8. I enjoyed reading your like list!! I hate crowds too...it seems like fun at first (shopping) but then after an hour or two I'm ready to get back home!!

I'm so with you on loving my computer (especially the laptop Santa brought) for the communication it gives me with alll my book blogger buddies...and I'm so with you on crowds. I won't even go into how much they annoy me because I don't want to taint any illusions of me being a sweet person. :)

Oh, and as I've probably mentioned before, my mother is a Canadian, and they are a truly lovely people. I could easily stand a crowd of Canadians! (Or, Italians.)

  10. I loved reading your lists! And we miss you, too - I know you're busy with the new job, but know that you are missed.

Oh, and I think the economy pretty much sucks everywhere right now, so I'd stick with Canada, since it's such a beloved place for you. In fact, maybe my family and I should move and join you!

  11. I had no idea you hated hot dogs and sausages! If I did know I must have forgotten. Guess I better take back that jumbo party pack of hot dogs I bought for your visit this weekend! Just kidding.

The older I get the more I hate crowds but at the same time I love sales. It's horrible. I get to the mall and I get my first few purchases and I am high on that for a little bit but then the reality of the crowds sets in. This is when I become the crankiest little *beep* ever. Brian expects it now when we go shopping.

  12. LOL! Great list! Both the loves and hates. I shudder when I think of the contents of sausages or hot dogs myself, though I still manage to eat them occasionally.

  13. How do people not love hot dogs?? I just don't get it :p The key is to not think of what's in them, lol. I'm an order nazi myself btw lol

  14. Oh Kelly, I think I would have cried if someone came in and rearranged my stuff! Yep, I can definitely feel your pain on that one!
You know, I often wish I lived in Canada, too! :D
But mornings...ahhhh...I'm one of those weirdos who actually love mornings!

  15. I love reading these things... I get very annoyed if people rearrange my stuff, even though I do it to other people all the time!!

  16. Looks like we share many of the same likes and dislikes! History, Canada, my computer, and order - though it may not look like it to everyone I have everything in the order I prefer it to be in! And dislikes - crowds, cleaning and mornings are mine too ;)

  17. Oh I'm so impatient and slow people get to me too. That's when I start practicing yogic breathing! haha....

And, I'm not much of a morning person either. Gotta love late nights :)

  18. I love drinking water. It is really my favorite drink!

  19. I love my computer too. I don't know what I'd do if it crashed. I'd cry.

And I love having my books in order. Once my son "rearranged" them for me, though, I realized that I'd just be frustrated if I kept trying to keep them how I want them. Maybe someday I'll have an organized bookshelf!

  20. We have a lot of things in common...great list!

I hope you have a safe and happy New Year Kailana!

    See you in 2010!

  21. I love history, too! And while I don't hate slow people, I HATE unpunctual people.

What fun! I have a problem with slow people too, although I do like the occasional hot dog :)

  23. I'm a water person, too, Kelly. Love to drink it, but mostly love to live near it (after having grown up in the desert!). A very Happy New Year to you, filled with lots of books!

  24. I'm so with you on the crowds. The only time I put up with it is if it's something I really want to do, like attend a concert, see a movie or a play. Otherwise, I try to avoid them.

  25. I'm with you on most of the likes! I'm not a very well-ordered person, though; my house would probably drive you crazy! And I like being around water, especially the ocean, but it also scares me if I think about it too much. The surface is fine, but the underneath bits terrify me.

I love both sausages and cooking, but I'm with you on the other dislikes! Slow people drive me crazy.
