She owns:
Green Eggs and Ham
The Cat and the Hat
Fox in Socks
ABC
Mr Brown Can Moo, Can You?
Hop on Pop
Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish
I Wish That I Had Duck Feet
I missed one: I Can Read With my Eyes Shut
I am going by memory here, so may have forgot something. She also has P.D. Eastman's Are You My Mother?
So, what other Dr. Seuss books should I consider?
*** Edited to add: I ordered this REALLY nice 13-in-1 version of Dr. Seuss. I had considered it before, but pretty much every book suggested on here is in the collection. There are three repeats, but she will get ten new ones:
And to think that I saw it on Mulberry Street
Horton Hears a Who! (I am surprised no one suggested this one.)
McElligot's Pool ( I have no idea what this is)
If I Ran the Zoo
Happy Birthday to You! (Fitting because it is her birthday)
Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (I might buy this one for her again as a separate book for her birthday)
The Lorax (Lots of people will be happy!)
The Sneetches
Oh, the Places You'll Go! (Wasn't going to buy this one because her mother wanted to get her it when she graduated from school way in the future, but can't help it!)
Feel free to continue to chime in on your favourites, though. There are other occasions that are worth buying books for!
One of my favorite Dr. Seuss books is The Lorax. I love that one!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites not on the list is Great Day for Up. While my 3 year old niece would miss Hand, Hand, Fingers Thumb.
ReplyDeleteThe Lorax, definitely. Also, I Saw It On Mulberry Street and The Cat in the Hat Came Back.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Buying books for your friend's daughter! There could be no better gift for ANYONE! :)
ReplyDeleteOh The Places You Will Go is my favourite Dr Seuss book.
I love and highly recommend 'Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!' and 'I Can Read With My Eyes shut!'
ReplyDeleteI would add The Sneetches and The Lorax to that list.
ReplyDeleteAs well as the Sneetchs and the Lorax, I really liked the Birthday Book and The Sleep Book when I was young...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE The Lorax, The Giving Tree and The Places You Will Go. All so good :-)
ReplyDeleteAt least, I THINK he did The Giving Tree... maybe not?
Dr. Seuss was not really on my radar as a kid... strange I know. The only ones I think I read as a kid were The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham but she already has those.
ReplyDeleteHow old is she? I really loved and love Robert Munsch books.
How about If I ran the circus? I remember reading that one as a child...
ReplyDeletediaryofaneccentric: The Lorax is one of the ones I bought for her!
ReplyDeleteBekah: I have not heard of either of those!
thekams: She didn't really like The Cat in the Hat, so I am going to wait until she is a bit older before I get her The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. I got her the other two, though!
Court: Her mother wants to get her Oh the Places you will go when she graduates.
Amy: Oops. I Can Read my Eyes Shut I all ready bought her. Guess I missed one of my list!
Andi: I did! Bought both of them. :)
Charlotte: I bought all four of those... I don't remember The Sneetches at all.
Aarti: I don't think he did The Giving Tree, but I liked that book when I was little, too!
Heather: She is going to be three. Her mother is buying her the Robert Munsch books. The thing I really like about the Dr. Seuss is they are hardcover, so her brother (and possible other siblings...) can read them, too.
Christinabean: I got her If I Ran the Zoo... I wonder if that is the same book? I will have to check!
Phew, I'm glad you already got it because I wasn't sure how a reader could miss it ;)
ReplyDeleteAmy: lol I knew there was one I was missing, but I couldn't remember what it was.
