April in Review

First up, we will be posting our next installment of Short Story Monday on Wednesday this week.

What I Learned

That sometimes you feel like you are reading all the time, but you never seem to get anywhere. April was a month like that. It helps that I was busy with other things, but it still was disappointing I didn't get to a lot of the great books I am still anxious to read. Hopefully I will get to some of them in May.

I also learned that having a bookcase, so I can actually see my books instead of just guessing what I have is annoying and leads to me not really reading my own books. I now have a bookcase stacked with wonderful books that I am excited about reading. I still haven't posted pictures, but I will. Now I need to resist taking more books out of storage and bringing them here. It's very hard! If I had read a few, it would open up new slots, but unfortunately I am still reading books that were on the go when I put the shelf up, so they didn't have a spot to begin with.

What books are you excited about in May?

Thoughts on May

There are so many books I want to get to in May. I want to read more Charles de Lint. I am currently reading The Very Best of Charles de Lint slowly with Carl. I am enjoying de Lint so much, though, that I also started Widdershins and Muse & Reverie. I always consider myself a de Lint fan and then don't read very much by him! Then, I have the last book in Carrie's Ryan trilogy to finally read. I can't believe I have owned it this long and not read it! I also want to try and get back to Terry Pratchett this year. I was having a bookish talk with a friend the other night and she loves him, so I know I need to get into his Discworld novels. This could shape up to be a month full of really great books!

  1. I couldn't get on with A Discovery of Witches so gave up. Possibly my mood. I need to try again, maybe for the RIP challenge in the autumn.

I dropped a very large hint to my daughter about a Katherine Langrish book for my birthday. Hopefully she took it... lol.

Hope May is a good reading month for you... I'm hoping to have more time to read some excellent stuff too.

  4. I love having all my books arranged on shelves, waiting for me to read them. However, it also makes me skip over all the library books I have out that I want to read too!

  5. *Cath: That's too bad on A Discovery of Witches. I loved that book!

*Staci: Me either! Something else always happens...

*Debi: I didn't know, actually. lol I only found out in the midst of reading that there was a sequel due out next year. Everything is at least a trilogy nowadays.

*Kim: I read too much from the library... I need to step away a bit.
