February in Review

What I Learned

First up, I will return with Tuning in on Thursday next week. We haven't really watched much lately worth me talking about.

Well, this month didn't quite go as I planned. I didn't read poetry or a Shakespeare play as I had planned to do each month, so I will have to try and read twice as much in March. I did read an essay collection and short stories, though. It wasn't all bad. I am up to 42 books for the year which is a decent number. I have never paid attention to page count, but my new spreadsheet informs me I have read 11, 217 pages so far this year. I am not really sure if that is good or not, but judging by the shorter books I have been reading I am thinking no. It is never something I have worried about so much, though.

One thing I have been interested in is the male/female divide of my authors. So far this year I have read more men than women. I am not thinking that will continue for the year, but we will see what happens. Most of the books I have read this year have been physical books with a few e-books thrown in here and there. And, so far, there have been very little graphic novels and young adult books. I think the biggest break away from my trends of the last few years is I have only read 9 library books so far this year.  The rest of all been books that I own whether they be physical copies or e-books. On the one hand I hope this trend continues so I can work on my TBR pile, but on the other hand I want to continue to support the library. We will see what the year brings.

New To Me Authors

Theodora Goss (The Thorn and the Blossom)
Adele Griffin & Lisa Brown (Picture the Dead)
Marissa Meyer (Cinder)
Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore (A Time to Sow)
Peter Lerangis (The Sword Thief)

I have to say I am quite happy with this. It means reading authors for more than the one time.

Thoughts for March

For the most part I am happy with February, so something similar works for me!

  1. Impressive, not only the books, but your record keeping.

I read 6 books in February. That is very good for me.
I am reading my first Fadiman book - Ex Libris. I am greatly enjoying it.

I am interested in reading Cinder. Hopefully I will get to it.

  3. Is the Farseekers the sequel to Obernewtyn? I've read Obernewtyn, I've never seen the sequel, and I really wanted to continue the series.

Very impressive! wonderful reading month for you. Mine slacked off a bit with the virus we all got, so I'm hoping to catch back up in March. I have to get Cinder too, it sounds interesting. What was your favourite read this month?

  6. I was on a James Patterson spree a few years ago and then got burnt out. I can only imagine how far behind I am on the Women's Murder Club series.
