Best Reads of 2012

Best Historical Fiction:
A book that is told in pictures. It was different from the normal books out there. I sadly didn't review it, but I did enjoy it!

I read the entire Bess Crawford Mystery series in 2012. It was for a fun read-along and was one of my success stories of 2012. Overall I enjoyed the series as a whole and look forward to future releases! I even reviewed them all:

I adored this book! I was a bit worried in the beginning because it starts off slowly, but it was all worth it in the end. Definitely worth reading if you are slow getting to it! My thoughts.

This book blew me away with its awesomeness. What a wonderful experience even if wasn't entirely a pleasant subject matter. I strongly recommend it! My thoughts.

Best Non-Fiction
This books was really really interesting. It made me think a lot and makes me want to read more on the subject. I just need to find time for more projects! I did not write a post about it, but I do recommend it!

I read a bunch of Titanic-related books in 2012 and really enjoyed this one. I learned a lot and recommend it if you want an overview of events this is the one you should check out.

I had seen a few posts about this book and was curious. I thought it was an interesting look at women and how their world has changed. And, it is all centred around the bicycle.

I was actually surprised I liked this book... I generally don't read books that deal with cancer, but I took a chance on this one because it also talked about dogs. I go through dog-withdrawal sometimes, so I am tempted by dog-related reads. I feel bad I did not write a post about it because of my deplorable end to the year, but I am glad that I read it.

Series I Continue to Love:
Of course! As well as Cinderella and the new series Fairest.

Again, of course!

I am still kind of surprised I enjoy this series... I was getting a bit tired of young adult, but there is just something about this series... I really must read the newest one!

This series is growing on me. I enjoyed this book more than the other two and am excited to see what happens next!

Charles de Lint is one of the best. I continue to enjoy reading Newford and look forward to more books in the series!

FINALLY! Now write more!!

Favourite Fantasy/Science-Fiction Reads:
I was worried about his following up Hugo, but he knocked it out of the park with this one!

FINALLY reading this series... Now to find time to read more of it...

I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed this book... Like I said above I am getting a bit tired of young adult, but this was good!

So happy I finally read this one!!

Promising start to a new series. I am looking forward to book 2.

This series was just fun...

This book is definitely one of my top reads of the year. Really great fantasy novel. Cannot wait until there is more!

Another great start to a series. I look forward to more from the author!

Favourite Graphic Novels:

Some of been mentioned, but I also loved:
This was an awesome story! I am a big fan of the writer and the artist now!

An awesome start to a new series! I cannot wait for the next one to be released!
hm, there seems to be a theme here... Anyway, another series I am really enjoying. I am looking forward to reading more!

Series I was Sad to See End:
While not as good as her other series, I still enjoyed this quartet and was sad to see it end.

The biggest thing, though, was that The Women of the Otherworld series ended in 2012. It was one of my favourite series and I am sad to see it end!

Books that Stand-up to a Reread:
This was just as good this time as when I read it in 2009!

Best Young Adult Fiction:
I really liked this book! I was a bit surprised by that, actually.

Steve Kluger is an awesome writer! Read two books by him now and loved both of them!

The more I read from this author... The more impressed I am by what he writes!

I also enjoyed this book. It kind of got lost in the other things I read this year... I must get back to the series!

Best Short Story Collection:
Great collection of stories!

Best Essay Collection:
Always enjoy essay collections from Nick Hornby!
