Friday Reads - 9th Edition

Look at all the books I have started lately... I have been a bit moody in my reading lately. The thing is there is nothing wrong with the books. It is a combination of not enough reading time and just lacking the ability to just sit down with one book. I keep putting them aside and glancing at something else. I like to think it is because it is spring and spring usually means lots of new projects, but it also means that I want to finish all of these books as a sort of spring cleaning.

  2. Wow. You sure have a lot going at once. I'm curious about The Snow Child and the Charles Todd book. I'm listening to my first Todd mystery and am enjoying it thus far. Very reminiscent of Masie Dobbs.

  3. That is a diverse list of books! Hopefully one of them will be able to grab your attention and enable you to focus all the way to the finish. Have a lovely weekend!

  4. I have been meaning to read Charles de Lint for WAY too long. Terri B was kind enough to mail me a collection of his short stories and I'm ashamed to admit how long ago that was...

  5. That happens to me sometimes too. I love Dragonsong though - one of my favorites!

  6. I could have written your opening paragraph almost word for word.

I really loved An Impartial Witness. Liking that series a lot.

I did not care much for Elfland so I am very curious as to your thoughts.

  9. Whoa! Quite a lot of books you got going on there, how do you read them all at once!? :O I always lose track of what happens where when I do that ...

They look pretty interesting, Snow Child seems good, do tell how it goes :)

I've been meaning to read the Hunger Games and Halo: Grasslands for ah, a while now *cough*six months*cough* but haven't quite gotten around to doing it...

Anyways, have a good weekend and good luck with all those books!

  10. :) Who knows which books will catch our interest? I've started a bunch lately that failed to catch my interest. Got half way through Mr. Fox by Helen Oyeyemi before setting it aside. Fortunately, there is always one that will grab hold and keep you involved. Interested to know how you like the Sharon Shinn as I haven't read the Starborn series. Love the Rothfuss books.

  11. Moody in your reading....I like that description. I feel like I have ADHD sometimes, picking one up, going to another one later, I have so many books unfinished and most of them are nonfiction too. I always feel like a lazy reader when I realize that. It's hard to go looking for the right book, isn't it, when one doesn't just jump out and say 'my turn', isn't it?

  12. These are all the books you have started right now? Wow. You're more .. umm.. distracted than I. I usually don't do that with more than three books. Haha!

I read Elfland last year and loved it, but I love to read romance as well and this book focuses a lot on the relationships between the characters with the fantasy elements weaving their stories together. I could see how it wouldn't appeal to people who prefer their fantasy straight up! ;)

I've got The Snow Child on my list. Hope it's good.

  13. When things get crazy for me and I don't have time to read a novel, I turn to short story collections. Reading a short story doesn't take much time, but it satisfies that need for "finishing something." I'm a big fan of Jack Vance who wrote some astonishing, unique short stories.
