Week in Review (14)

Random Thoughts

I'm back! I decided that today was a good a day as any to get back around to blogging. I actually don't feel like all that many days have gone by... And they haven't really... I just needed a couple days to get my head together because I wasn't as organized as I would hope. I think it is because what blogging time I have had lately has been dedicated to getting Titanic Week organized at Historical Tapestry. I am kind of excited about it because the Titanic has always been an aspect of history that interests me.

For those of you that asked, things have been interesting. As I said in my blogging break post my mother's house was broken in to. She has cats and I was there checking on them. It was not something that I expected so it took me a couple moments to get my head around what I was stumbling upon. My mother seems to be taking it rather well, but a lot of family heirlooms were taken. It's a bit sad. My books were fine. No one cares about books...

I am hoping to be back to blogging this week. There is a lot I want to talk about! But, be sure and follow along with Titanic Week which starts tomorrow. I am excited about all the great posts!

Challenge News

I read The Dressmaker for the Historical Fiction Challenge. Spirits in the Wire was for the Once Upon a Time Challenge.

Weekly Reads

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't perfect, and I am not so sure about the portrayal of the characters, but it was a bit of a page-turner. It will be one of the books I discuss during Titanic Week. (Personal Copy)

I loved C.S. Lewis when I was a child, but I have never read any of his adult books. That is very slack for me... This was actually a really good read and I am glad I got the chance to read it. This is for a TLC book tour that I will be posting about next week. (E-book)

I really enjoyed this book. I love de Lint, though, and I am glad that Carl and I read a book together again for the Once Upon a Time Challenge. You can see the first part of the discussion here and the second part will be up tomorrow. (Personal Copy)

I really wanted this book because it is the photos by Browne that show some of the last moments of the Titanic.  I was very happy that the library had them. (Library Copy)

I also read this trilogy for the Titanic Week at Historical Tapestry. It was the quickest fiction that could come in for me, so I went with easy. It was good, but not the best thing I have ever read based on the Titanic. (Library copies)

  2. good, but not the best thing I have ever read based on the Titanic

but, it is by Gordon Korman, which gives it bonus points. I have always enjoyed his Bruno and Boots books.

    1. Exactly! I only even read it because it was Korman. I would have probably passed on it otherwise.

I am so sorry, but I turned anonymous commenting off. I have had it from the very beginning, but that is how the spam is getting by my spam filter at the moment. If it is a big deal I will turn it back on and moderate all comments. I also changed moderation from older than 14 days to older than 7.
