My birthday is not for about another 2 weeks, but as an early gift and to celebrate my new job... I bought books... It is a 'this time of the year' thing for me. I always try to swing it no matter the circumstances. (hm, in writing this post I discovered that the reason my order was cheaper than expected is because I forgot a book... oops!)
Anyway, so far only one book has arrived:
The only thing is the cover is not this one and that means it doesn't match the first 3 books in the series. Sad...
Then, on its way to me are:
This is the book I thought I ordered and didn't... I was wondering why it hadn't arrived yet!
I bought this by impulse. It sounds good and is compared to some other good series...
I really liked Tender Morsels and people are really liking this one so far...
New Libba Bray! Series start, too. I loved her other trilogy.
The sequel to The Girl of Fire and Thorns which I enjoyed earlier this year...
Then, I was thinking I was under budget because I forgot the Derek Landy... So, I got this book because I love the author and want to start collecting his books:
So, that's my book splurge of the moment... I have even sort of started reading again. Yay, me! I am reading The Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton. A nice book for this time of year. Then, back to blog tours and such that I am failing on...
Creepy covers! How appropriate for fall. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOoh, so much fantasy!
ReplyDeleteYour stack of books look fantastic! The Brides of Rollrock Island and Every Day are two really good books. I'm rereading Brides right now. I also have the first Skulduggery Pleasant on audio. I can't wait to listen to it. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally in favor of early presents (especially because then the actual day comes along and one feels obliged to get something more!). Very fun looking stack!
ReplyDeleteBooks are great presents for anytime!
ReplyDeleteI've only read 1 Arthur Slade book but I really enjoyed it. I need to try the Hunchback Assignments sometime.
I have the first Skull Duggery book but I haven't read it yet. I really should because everyone keeps telling me how good the series is.
Happy early birthday!
I'm really wanting the latest Levithan. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Lanagan is so good! Really, really good!
ReplyDeleteBooks. I can't think of a better way to celebrate anything! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteNothing beats books for birthday presents..enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGood haul! I'm waiting for my library to get the Slade book. I'm on the list! I have The Diviners on my Kindle, I just have to remember it's there! I can't get the hang of this ereading, out of sight, out of mind. What with all the piles of books surrounding me, do I really want to remember all the files of books I have on the Kindle. It would be a nightmare if it weren't so heavenly. LOL! Happy Reading! Can't wait to hear what you think of the end of the Hunchback Assignments!
ReplyDeleteNice haul! I wish I had a reason for all of the books that I bought, but do I really need one? Happy Birthday!!!<< I say that now because in two weeks I hope to be subbing and not sure if I will remember :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lovely birthday shopping trip, Kelly!!! Which books of Levithan's do you already have?
ReplyDeleteGreat haul! I've heard tons of good things about BITTER SEEDS. I'll be interested in hearing how you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely haul, Kelly! books for a birthday, the best presents! And you can start reading them early too, if you can't wait....I really want to try the Brides of Rollrock Island, and I've added the Bitter Seeds to my wishlist :-) Enjoy, they look like a lot of fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI bought a few books with my birthday money, too--even though it was a month ago. The cover of Bitter Seeds is so catching--haven't heard of the book before.
ReplyDeleteI'm listening to Libba Bray read her Beauty Queen book! She has very good narrating skills.
ReplyDeleteHappy early Birthday! That's quite a stash you've got there, lucky girl. :-)
