These are mostly bookish goals...
1. Read Lucy Maud Montgomery. I picked an author I own a lot of books from as my goal for 2014. I am almost done my first short story collection by her, but I feel compelled to keep mentioning her to keep my motivation up.
2. Make a dent in other authors I have lots of books by... The ones in my head are J.D. Robb, Terry Pratchett, and Lois McMaster Bujold. I have other authors that would work, but I don't want to overwhelm myself.
3. Finish Series. There are several trilogies/series that I just have one or two more books to read to either finish or catch-up. So, I should.
4. Making reading a priority again. In 2013 I almost felt guilty every time I would make time to read. I started off 2014 not doing that, but I am doing it again...
5. Keep up with things. I was such a stranger in 2013 it was December before I found out about events, books, etc. I always like to stay current and not feel like I am neglecting people, so I need to do better. Also, it is awesome that I am commenting lately and it would be nice if I could continue.
6. Remember What a Blog is. I hardly blogged in 2013... And that started in 2012. I just could not get it together until the end of November! I need to remember to post even once in a while when life gets busy.
7. Actually Read and Use my Photography Books. Another thing that I got very far behind with in 2013. I was obsessed with playing with my camera the first part of the year and then... fizzled. And this is more than photo a day. This is use my actual camera, my pretty news lens, and TAKE PICTURES.
8. Catch-up on Graphic Novels. I read less than 10 graphic novels in 2013. I am behind in series like Saga, The Unwritten, Fairest, and Y: The Last Man. I used to at least keep up with my graphic novels, so I want to be caught up in 2015.
9. Listen to audiobooks. For me, 2013 was the year of the audiobook, but I still would slack once in a while. I have to keep it up in 2014.
10. Remember Reading Challenges. Another thing that becomes out-of-sight/out-of-mind for me. That is why I returned to my old Week in Review posts because that forces me to look and see if I have accomplished anything.
Your authors to catch up on sound pretty excellent to me! I'm looking forward to you reading more of the Vorkosigan series - I got addicted to them very quickly and I hope you do too!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can avoid feeling guilty when you read and continue sticking around the blogosphere more. :)
Lots of great goals! I'm also going to try to finish some series. I think I am fairly caught up with graphic novels, besides Fables. Y: The Last Man is a great series, I can't wait to see what you think of the ending.
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten Goals
It looks like you're off to a great start! I want to read some of the Robb books too. I've only read a couple and always forget about her even though I read her Roberts books pretty regularly. I'm jealous of the audiobook goal! I've tried and we just don't seem to get along. I always end up getting distracted and missing 2/3 of the story!
ReplyDeleteCatching up and finishing series is a goal I should make. So many . . . It'll never happen. LOL
ReplyDeleteI wish you luck on your goals for this year, Kelly. I say, just do what you can and don't sweat it if you fall short somewhere.
Sounds like a good plan! Flannery O'Connor is an author I'd like to familiarize myself with. I have a couple of her books on my TBR shelf but have yet to read her.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all your goals. You can do it! :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Kailana :) Most of your goals are inter-connected, so if you can make one, you'll probably hit a few :)
ReplyDeleteI feel that 2013 was just a meh year for everyone in my blogging entourage. Perhaps we've been blogging for too long and this year was just a down?
Great goals! Wishing you much success.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm right there at 5 & 6 with you! I need to remember that the imaginary conversations I have in my head with friends don't actually count as communication, because they don't know about them. *blushes*
ReplyDeleteI adore Lucy Maud Montgomery & I just grabbed the audio of Anne of Green Gables from the library for my niece to try. She might still be too young (almost 8 now), but I hope she falls in love.
February is going to be great for #8!!! :D
ReplyDeleteSome good goals there :) If you haven't read The Blue Castle yet you're in for a treat.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all your goals! I'm going to try to fit in more audio books this year too. In 2013 I think I only managed about 3. Hopefully I can treble that next year.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! Wishing you all the best with your goals. :)
ReplyDeleteI need to do better with graphic novels as well this year, I must have at least half-a-dozen waiting to be read!
Great goals. I have some similar ones. This year, I'm making reading a priority too. And being more committed to my blogging and keeping up with everything. But I'm still going to stay away from reading challenges, because I always seem to fail with them!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Kelly! Sometimes it is difficult to even sort out all the goals for a new year, but I could take your #5 (Keep with things) as my primary goal for the year. Love that you are renewing your interest in blogging!
ReplyDeleteThese are great goals, and I wish you luck! Will you be reading the Anne of Green Gables series? I loved those books, and I discovered them in high school.
ReplyDeleteWonderful goals! I know what you mean about feeling guilty when you set aside time to read. It's important but sometimes it's so hard.
