So, I lost my reading and blogging mojo in March. I only read 4 books! Craziness... It was a bit slow at the beginning of the month, but I think it really fizzled when I didn't wind up reading all that much while I was away in Florida. Then, we came back to sort of nice weather where we played with cameras... And then we got winter back. I haven't even been listening to audiobooks because the treadmill, where I listen mainly, hasn't been calling to me. (I am determined to fix that this month!)
Anyway, April is a new month and I am determined to get back on track. I have a bunch of blog tours this month that I am excited about, for example. And then there are the few books I have bought recently... And audiobooks... And the Once Upon a Time challenge... And the books I bought in December/January that are waiting for me to get around to. And potential read-alongs... April could be an awesome month of reading if I just let myself relax.
I am kind of obsessed with projects and am always trying to find new ways to spice things up. I thought April was going to be Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred but we have real hardwood in our living room, where the TV is, and even with sneakers on my feet and ankles are killing me after only about 10 mins in. I don't want to hurt myself, so I wind up taking a bit of a break and going on the treadmill instead. This is the first time I have done something like this in the new house. Another moment where I think we need a second television... I will figure something out. I am sure even the 10 mins is better than nothing, right? It is just something to do until the weather gets to be outside-worthy.
Hopefully April will be better weather and reading-wise! What's new with everyone that managed to read this entire post?
I've been trying to incorporate more exercise into my daily routine, but there are days I only manage to get the stretching in. Hopefully your weather will be more springlike soon so you can go outside.

What if you do 10 minutes of 30DS and then hop on the treadmill? Sometimes if an exercise bores me I'll jump around like that. As long as your heartrate is up, I don't see what it matters. I just bought a running stroller and am hoping to get out more...until it's too hot to take the babe outside in another month. Sigh! That's pretty much all that's new with me. Naptimes suck here so I haven't read much either--only for me in March. ;)

I've been trying to workout once a day, which is WAY more than I'm used to. I mainly do a treadmill, but I've been trying to mix it up.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about going back to doing the shred too but we don't have a DVD player downstairs where I work out. I guess I should just grab one the next time that I'm at the store but I keep forgetting :) I hope that you have a wonderful month of reading in April. I have lots of books that I'm hoping to read as well this month but it is going to be super busy so we will see.
ReplyDeleteI did Jillian Michaels on carpet -- especially helpful for push-ups that I did from my knees until I got strong enough to do them from my toes. Would an exercise mat help? I think it's great to mix things up -- 10 minutes of a video and more on the treadmill is a wonderful combination!

ReplyDeleteMarch was weird for me too! I started out reading a ton and then just... stopped. I haven't finished a book in at least a week, maybe two, which is such a bummer. I'm hoping for a lot of reading time this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI am in a bit of a reading slump myself. Just cannot motivate myself to pick up a boom when I get home. But still doing the audiobooks, so that helps.
ReplyDeleteFor the workout, I second the idea of an exercise mat. I also work out on carpet a lot, if you have a room that makes it possible and can just move your computer over.
Also, I really like the website and YouTube channel blogilates. She has a lot of strength training stuff that you can do (though definitely would hurt on hardwood!)
What was it about March? It was a nice month here, too, but I've been reading so much about slumps. Left overs from February perhaps? 10 minutes sounds good, especially with the treadmill afterwards. I think the readathon will help many of us this month!
ReplyDeleteVacations always mess with my reading one way or another. Sometimes I read a ton and sometimes I don't read anything. I second the blogilates recommendation! I do her exercises almost every day and I've seen more results than I did after the 30 day shred. Plus she has so much variety I don't get bored. Good luck with your April reading!
ReplyDeleteI've been in a reading glut, just the opposite of a slump. I'm ready for a slump. I need to get back to my studio and make something. Oh, and exercise. That has recently been neglected again.
ReplyDeleteI'm finding that what I'm craving this month is balance. Less time on the computer and with books and tv, more time moving. More time improving things and trying new things. It might just be the boost from a bit more sunlight so we'll see how long it lasts. :) Enjoy your April!

ReplyDeleteRelax!! Your reading will pick up and if it doesn't, that's okay too! Besides, with the winter we seem to still be having, getting outside when the weather is nice is perfectly understandable and necessary!
ReplyDeleteI had been in a reading glut too, and now it's slowing - I'm depressed over winter not going away and anxious to get outside and walking again. I have so many books to read, which I know I am spoiled and happy I have, though sometimes I think I get anxious then and stop reading because I'm afraid I won't get to them. Silly me. Of course I will, I bought them because I want to read them. Your reading will pick up. Soon we will be able to get outside, walk, take pictures, and read outside!
ReplyDeleteAs for your hard-wood floor: do your exercises in your sneakers, or on a exercise mat. We have the same floors, and if your knees or ankles ache, listen to them! You are right to not push it.
As always, and I'm sure you're not going to be surprised what I'm going to say, relax, especially in terms of your reading. It sounds like you've already been doing that in your life otherwise: with Florida and photos. Now just work on it with your reading too. :) We're not putting the pressure on you, Kelly. Only you are...BUT I know how you feel sometimes as I can be the same way and even now while writing this, I'm thinking what I "should" read next. *Sigh*
