Week in Review - Week 20

Random Thoughts

Every week I write in my Bullet Journal, blog something... And most weeks this is the only post that actually happens. I am proud of myself that this post means that I have blogged at least 20 times so far this year. That is better than 0, right? But, I would like to blog more... I just can't seem to find my mojo. I have posts started and saved as drafts, but just can't seem to finish them. I guess it is a work in progress. In the meantime, I write my one weekly post that was my official goal for this year and I manage to visit blogs. That will have to work for now!

This week was a quieter reading week because my main read was A Gathering of Shadows and it was over 500 pages! I finished it this morning, but I cut off my weeks on Saturday so you will have to wait until next weekend to find out what I thought! I also had major issues with audio this week. I am listening to The Dream Thieves on a different app than I normally use. The app keeps crashing and slowing down in speed. Plus, I just don't find the volume that great on my phone compared to my iPod. (My iPod is 'old' and won't update to the newer operating systems, so now new apps won't download. I am so torn. It works fine, but I likely need to get a new one... I hate that!) So, I bought a paper copy and think I am going to DNF the audio for now. It is not the narrator AT ALL. I just have high hopes for this book and the technical issues are ruining it. I was pretty tempted to reactivate Audible and get the audios through there, but I promised myself I would work through my backlist first. I am not sure if buying the books in paperback really was a better plan than getting Audible back. In both cases I spend money... lol

Weekly Reading

Wonder Woman - Vol 1 ~ I liked this first volume of the series, but haven't had a chance to read on because of other things happening this week. I have to admit I have heard of Wonder Woman, but I have never actually read a book about her before. This explains where she comes from and sets her up for some adventures. I am looking forward to the next volume. Recommended!

Rebel in the Sands ~ I blamed A Gathering of Shadows for my slow reading week, but considering how short this was in comparison... This book took forever it seemed. I had read a lot of really good books and this book didn't knock my socks off in the beginning. I am happy to report, though, that it got way better as it went and I ended up enjoying it. It just wasn't as amazing as other books I have read lately. I think the series has a lot of potential, though, and look forward to the next book. Recommended!

  1. Does that mean we are 20 weeks into the year?!?! So, I've been keeping up with my bullet journal for 3 and a half months which is the longest I've kept up with a journal since I've been trying! Was thinking of those notecard journaling we talked about YEARS ago--really wish I had kept up with that one because I love the concept of being able to see what happened on a day for years in the past.

I say keeping up with your weekly posting is good progress! I'm really trying to get back into blogging--have several posts in various draft mode--but I struggle at the commenting part. :(

Hope it's a great week for you!

  2. I am glad you are able to post as much as you do, Kelly. I know you'd like to do more--and that would be great--but I will take what I can get. :-) I enjoy your weekly posts with your news. And those wonderful photos of your animals. I hope you enjoy Uprooted. It's one I would really like to read. As well as Shadow and Bone.

Such beautiful photos as always! Thank you for sharing, Kelly.

    Have a great week!

  3. I think once a week is pretty good as well! I know I am struggling as well on the blogging front but there are other things I am doing too so I better live with it.

Oh and cannot wait to read Uprooted! It's a little too long for my liking but I loved the first chapter.

  4. One post a week is good, especially when you're recapping everything. I'd rather have 20 posts spread out on 20 weeks, then 20 posts in a month ^_^;

    You take beautiful pictures!!

  5. I'd love it if you posted more, just because I love to hear what you have to say and what you're up to. But I think keeping up with the once a week blogging is a fantastic accomplishment. I can't even get my act together enough to do that. I disappear for weeks at a time and then post three times in one week.

  6. It is hard to keep up with posting! The recaps are a good thing!

  7. I can't believe we're already in the 20th week of the year. I kind of like the idea of one post a week.

  8. Beautiful pics! Love that tractor sign. The craziest sign I ever saw was for a nudist colony. This was in Quebec mind you. LOL

    I watch Nashville too!

  9. I love the photos.

I hate when short books take forever. At least you did end up enjoying it though.

  10. Perhaps try to complete one draft a week (whittle at the procrastination and daunting nature of a long list)? Though if a post a week is working for you it's not bad at all. Better fewer posts but with routine, I reckon :) Love the photos, especially those blossoms.

I've the Novik on my list since seeing it in another post of yours; it sounds so good.

I am so sorry, but I turned anonymous commenting off. I have had it from the very beginning, but that is how the spam is getting by my spam filter at the moment. If it is a big deal I will turn it back on and moderate all comments. I also changed moderation from older than 14 days to older than 7.
