Week in Review - Week 27

Random Thoughts

I have been blogging for all these years, and this is the first year that I have made my own buttons. I enjoy changing them up for each month and making use of my own pictures! (I use Canva if anyone is curious.) If I can't find a picture of my own to use, I have been known to use Pexels because they offer free stock photos. I am branching out in the world. lol

Otherwise, my week was uneventful. My reading slump kicked into high gear this week sadly. I find that I am doing other things in the time that I normally would be reading. But, I did make a big decision. I love my bullet journal, but I wanted a conventional planner in an attempt to manage my time better than I was finding I could do with my bullet journal. Plus, the prices are scary... But, I decided for the 1 year since I broke my ankle day, I would buy myself something that I wanted and wouldn't buy typically. So, I decided that would be one of the planners I have been eyeing. I am really excited! It only took me over 6 months to actually buy one because there were so many options!

Weekly Reading

Uncanny X-Men - Volume 6 ~ This series on Marvel Unlimited was one of the first that I read when I first got my membership. This was the end of the run and it was a good run. I have always liked X-Men and have enjoyed finally reading some of the comics over the last year or so!

Loki: Agent of Asgard - Volume 3 ~ This series I started in the last half of 2015 and finished it up this week. This volume lead up to Secret Wars, but was released after it was all ready running. I noticed that with a couple other series, too. I enjoy Loki. He is the trickster and you never know what he will be up to next. I hope he will be back for a new run soon!

Deadline (Newsflesh Trilogy) ~ Audio ~ I am really enjoying this trilogy on audio! (As you can see I am listening to book 3 right now!) I have found that paranormal and vampires are starting to get old to me, but I enjoy this take on the whole idea. I have been meaning to read Mira Grant forever and this seems to be her year now that I have finally started! If you haven't read this series, I definitely recommend it!

The Girls ~ This book has had a lot of buzz and I decided to grab a copy because it was not ridiculously overpriced like other new releases have been this year. A couple years ago, I would never have liked this book. I just was not a fan of books narrated by teenagers... But, my reading tastes have changed and I really really liked this! I am glad I read it right away before the hype started to make me put it off. If you haven't read it yet, it is definitely deserving of the hype surrounding it!

  1. I think your buttons are great! I wouldn't even know where to begin in making my own. I always rely on my husband for stuff like that--or others. You really are a talented photographer. I am sorry your reading slump is worse. I am glad you are enjoying Mira Grant's books and Emma Cline's novel. Someday I'll get around to reading them too! I hope you have a great week, Kelly!

  5. I've seen the Emma Cline book on several blogs lately. I'm not so much tired of paranormal as tired of poorly written, cliched paranormal. :) Still up for clever, well-written zombies, vampires, ghosts, etc.

  6. Oh you have to show your planner! I love that you decided to go and get one - good for you!! Do you have a comixology subscription? I tried it for a brief time but wasn't wholly impressed by it. Wondering if I am missing something with it.

  7. Sleeping pets are the absolute pinnacle of contentment -- or at least the appearance of contentment. Gorgeous pictures!

  8. I liked the Newsflesh series. I haven't gotten into Grant's other series unfortunately. You might have persuaded me to read The Girls. I've been resisting.

  9. I want a nice planner too but will probably wait until closer to the end of the year and then get one for 2017. I'm dying to get my hands on The Girls!
