Random Thoughts

I am not sure what is up with me... I am just didn't feel like reading or blogging last week that much. Hopefully I do a bit better with that this week! March might be quiet just because of stuff that is going on. I am kind of obsessed with photographer so far this month. We have even gone out and played with cameras. I got a new lenses for Christmas and I had hardly used it since I got it. It was terrible! Sometimes the winter is just not photogenic... But, I am trying and am happy with my results. I am thinking of adding a photo post back to my rotation. Any interest in that? I am not sure what... A weekly or monthly favourites?

On another note, does anyone know how to delete a blog on Blogger? I have an old one that is getting spammed to death and I would just like to delete it, but I can't see where the delete option is! I have asked a couple times on Twitter, but no one has answered. If you know I would love you!!

As I think most people know we have been cat-sitting for my mother because she has become a 'Snowbird'. I really like Milo and he seems to be a hit on Instagram, but he has hardly used the litter box the entire time he has been here. He is lucky he is cute because he has almost been thrown in a snowbank a few times. He is going home on Tuesday to a different cat-sitter because we are going to Florida for a week starting on Thursday. Of course, I heard that there is supposed to be a storm Wednesday night.... I hope this is another instance of the weather being wrong!

The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon was really really good as an audio! I finished it rather quickly. I am now listening to The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I mentioned on Tuesday that I had never read him before and people were almost outraged. I had got the audiobook with my most recent credits from Audible so decided to get to it sooner rather than later.

Random Thoughts

I am so relieved. I mentioned last week that I had a cold. It didn't go down into my chest! That means that I am not coughing up a lung days after I feel better otherwise. Since that like never happens I am kind of excited! And, yeah, felt like mentioning it... It was a quiet week. I am hoping that March will be a good reading month. We are going away for a week, though, and I am not sure how much reading I will get done during that time. I decided to just bring one physical book and then my e-reader. This meant that when I found out about a 90 percent off coupon for Kobo I may have gone a bit overboard on books. It was fun getting these rather obscure books that my library didn't have and were costly to get otherwise. I included the list at the bottom of this post!

Yeah... February was not a good month for Montgomery. I need to do better in March! It didn't really help that I only listened to one audiobook the entire month. That meant I didn't even get to Anne of Avonlea. Need to do better.

Graphic Novel Year

I managed to get to two graphic novels after not reading any last week! I finished Locke & Key - Volume 1: Welcome to Lovecraft by Joe Hill and Bayou Volume 1 by Jeremy Love. I even posted about them all ready here.

A stupid cold kind of killed my plans for the week. We are watching the Closing Ceremonies of the Olympics and then hopefully I will get some time to do stuff. I am still sick, but feeling better than I have been! The up-coming week sounds like it is going to be busier than I anticipated. I am not even sure why I didn't read more this week. There was no real distraction... I know that Saturday night I got caught up catching up on this show that is about Oak Island. Oak Island is an island off the coast of Nova Scotia where there is possible treasure buried. The 'money pit' was found back in like 1795, 6 people have died, and we still have no idea what is down there. So, apparently some Americans bought part of the controlling interest in the island and they are trying to solve the mystery. I am a little disappointed that if they solve the mystery it will be Americans that do it, though. Anyway, I have always been interested in this aspect of history and the show is rather interesting. It is called 'The Curse of Oak Island'. So, my plans to have a read-a-thon yesterday didn't happen quite as I planned. Maybe today!

Yeah, the whole reading of graphic novels has pushed this to the back-burner. I either have to squeeze some in before the month is over or March is going to be a Montgomery month.

This week I reread Fun Home by Alison Bechdel. I liked it better with the second read. Then, I read Volume 1 and 2 of House of Mystery. This is on my quest to find some new series in preparation for Fables wrapping up soon. This series finished in 2011, though, so it won't really fit the criteria. I like it, though, and look forward to more in the series.

This book was surprisingly really good. I had never heard of it before, but it interested me when I heard Jo Walton talking about it. I am surprised this book isn't more popular. Review coming soon!

I heard about this book just before it came out and decided I was going to read it for the Postal Reading Challenge. It was nothing amazing, but I liked it!

This was a reread. I am not sure why, but the first time I read this I didn't really like it. I am glad I gave it a second chance because I did like it better the second time around. This is why I should reread more often!

It's been a while since I started a new graphic novel series. This one is interesting... I don't think it was overly popular when it came out, some of the volumes are out-of-print, but I am curious enough to see where it goes.

Yep. This is like Jack of Fables. Bill Willingham steps back and I just don't think Matthew Sturges is that awesome without him. That being said, I like this more than I expected to and plan to stick to the series.

Random Thoughts

It is definitely hard to pick one book out of all the books I want to read and stick with it... I am doing a bit better this month, but I really need to work on not getting caught up in all the pretty books. I can't read my entire TBR all at the same time. I guess it is good that I am excited about the books that I have to read, but it just makes me overwhelmed and then I don't finish anything. This past week has all been shorter stuff with it being Graphic Novel February. I plan to sit down with some graphic novels later today. I am thinking maybe my next project will be The Unwritten. I just have to decide if I want to go back and reread or start with the unread ones.

An example of not being able to concentrate is that I haven't read anything for this yet. Kilmeny of the Orchard is really short, so maybe that is what I should read today... My current audio is taking longer than I planned so I haven't got to Anne of Avonlea yet.

I think I did pretty good this week! I reread Saga: Volume 1, finally read Saga: Volume 2, reread Boxers by Gene Luen Yang, and read Saints by him. You can read my post about them here. I also read the first Archie comic I have read in years. It will go on my graphic novel post next week.

One project I have been sort of working at is reading books that Jo Walton recommended in What Makes This Book so Great. It's been fun hunting some of them down at the second hand store. Technically I finished my first one today, but because these posts only go up to Saturday it doesn't count for this week. Every year I tell myself to read more science-fiction and I don't. Hopefully this will finally work for me.

I haven't read an Archie comic in years, so I thought I would throw one in for nostalgia.

 I know so many people that love this series and I finally got to read one! They are really great, but I looked up the prices and I just can't justify that to myself... I am still glad I read this one, though!
