Merry Christmas!

I bought books (of course):

Maus I: A Survivor's Tale: My Father Bleeds History - Paperback (In Stock)
Maus Ii: A Survivors Tale: And Here My Troubles Began - Paperback (In Stock)
Dark Crystal 1 - Paperback (In Stock)
Cant Buy Me Love: The Beatles, Britain, And America - Paperback (In Stock)
Fables: Legends In Exile - Vol 01 - Paperback (In Stock)
Fables: Animal Farm - Vol 02 - Paperback (In Stock)
Greatest Knight - Paperback (In Stock)
Spectrum 15: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art - Paperback (In Stock)
The Magician's Book: A Skeptic's Adventures in Narnia - Hardcover (In Stock)

I also had a bunch of pre-orders, but I got to the checkout and they now charge $5.99 per book for pre-orders! They are crazy if they think I am paying that!

Now, I have a problem. Labyrinth Vol 1 is out-of-stock at the bookstore that I have gift cards for. So, I only ordered one book for Rhinoa's challenge! I need some suggestions on what to get. Manga suggestions, folks?

I want to suggest some manga for you, but I'm torn on what I know that might interest you. Leave me a comment on any one of my posts to help me narrow down genre/types of story/characters you like.

  7. Wonderful choices! I was thrilled to get comics for Christmas too. I can't get them from the library either, and I don't buy them for myself very often for the reasons you pointed out before. I wish I could help with the Manga challenge, but I'm going to figure out what to read as I go along too.

I hope you had a great Christmas, Kelly!

  8. Stephanie: Thanks! I hope yours was filled with books as well! Merry Christmas!

    Amanda: Thanks for the offer!

Marg: Merry Christmas to you too! I hope you have a wonderful New Year, as well!

Nymeth: Well, I think if I like the first two Fables books, I might buy the series off and on throughout 2009. We will see what happens. I have read the first book in Neil Gaiman's Sandman series, too, so maybe one of these days I should finish that series as well! I might have to choose as I go along with the manga, too. I just have to order it all in because there is really no where to get it around here. Merry Christmas!

  9. Yay! You got Fables! Now I hope you enjoy it as much as we've all worked it up, lol. I've been wanting to read Maus for so long! I'll have to get it soon. Is Spectrum 15 the new one?? I need to get that if it is!

  10. Yes, Chris, it is the new Spectrum. I accidently only got it in paperback... It's another ten bucks for hardcover. I think I will get it, see what it looks like, and then return it if I don't like it... What I really want to do is start getting the older ones... but that's 12...

  13. Merry Christmas! You got some great books! I can't believe that Chapters is charging for pre-orders! Doesn't that kind of defeat the point?
I'm looking forward to seeing what manga everyone reads since I'm new to it too.

  14. How interesting... I seem to have misplaced comments...

Anyway, I am very not impressed about the pre-order costs. That's how I buy my books... I pre-order them in January and then get mail all year!

  16. I wasn't at home to wish you a Merry Christmas when your Blog Advent Day was up, so with this little note I want to wish you a belated Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year :)

I actually got Maus I + II in a collected edition for Christmas from my sister. I also spend the days after Christmas reading it. It is a great graphic. Can't wait to hear what you think about it.
