Etsy Christmas

I have been thinking about Christmas lately and what I want to do for it this year. One thing that came to mind is how I always want to support talented people and their Etsy shops; but always wind up being disorganized and never getting around to actually doing it. This year I decided to make it the theme of my holidays. I am going to try to buy almost everyone on my Christmas list at least one item from an Etsy shop. I have all ready been browsing and making lists so I can do so early and not in a last minute shopping spree.

I have two blogging friends that have Etsy shops: Lisa and Iliana. I all ready have two projects in the works from Lisa and have been browsing Iliana's shop for ideas. If you have an Etsy shop that I apparently don't know about please share the link in the comments.

And, there are always Poppets from Poppet Planet.

I am also open to suggestions. Iliana shared this list of shops she enjoys:

http://www.etsy.com/shop/RachelleD
http://www.etsy.com/shop/cleverhands
http://www.etsy.com/shop/jorgensenstudio
http://www.etsy.com/shop/BeautySpot
http://www.etsy.com/shop/ellembee

I would love more from your blogging friends, friends, or just shops you have enjoyed in the past. I will probably branch out and browse in general, but in the beginning I would like to support either people I know or friends of people I know.

So, that's my plan for the holidays... Do you ever make plans for how your Christmas is going to be this year?

  2. Oh Kells, I love this idea!!! I need to cut down on the money I spend this year (this house is still sucking us dry at the moment), but I'd really like to use Etsy more too! And there's about a billion things I want to make and won't have time to, of course. :P

  3. MUST FINISH SCOTT'S QUILT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!! Of course that has nothing to do with etsy. But I love this idea! And love Lisa's projects--my kindle cover is from her. I also love Iliana's journals--she's quite talented!

No Christmas plans yet but would love to be more homemade than years past. Maybe you could make some daily journals! ;)

  4. What a great idea! There's some amazing stuff on Etsy. I can lose hours to browsing. Poppet Planet is a favourite, of course, and I love to do keyword searches just to see what comes up.

I've decided not to exchange presents this year, other than with my parents, so my Christmas should be easy. :) (Well, other than telling everyone I don't want to give them things, or get anything in return. I've been putting that off, since I expect it'll be awkward, but I'll have to do it within the next week or so so nobody starts shopping for me.) In past years, I've done a Buy Nothing Christmas, where I made all my gifts; a Charity Christmas, where I used Oxfam Unwrapped to donate something on each person's behalf; and a Bookish Christmas, when everyone received books.

  5. I love this idea, Kelly! Some of my favorite Etsy shops are Trafalgars Square(artwork) and The Paris Print Shop (more artwork). Shecological and TippyThai are two shops I keep swearing I'm going to buy a bag from.

  6. That is a rockin' idea!! I love this and will be following your boards. I wanted to start early too and your post has given me the nudge. Now, I need to carve out some time this weekend to browse the Etsy shops!!!

  7. That is a super idea! I don't ever really think to even look at Etsy. In years past, I used to finish my Christmas shopping by the end of October. It's hard to believe I ever did that. We've been last-minute shoppers for at least a decade, now. I can't even think about it, right now. Must unpack, first, and get some order in my life!!!

  8. I love Etsy and have for a long time. Such a great place to discover creative people. I've been using Etsy for birthdays and Christmas for a few years now and must say that it is a great idea, both because you can find unique gifts and also because of the support of artists that you mention. I hope you find some incredible stuff as you shop.

  9. I did buy a few Christmas gifts from Etsy last year and want to buy more this year. I love finding unique gifts, supporting small businesses and just surprising the gift recipient with something unexpected. There are so many affordable treasures on there!

  10. I had recently - like last month - started wondering if I could do some of my Xmas shopping on Etsy! for the reasons mentioned here, support of small craftspeople, and original art, which I love. I have lost many happy hours tripping through Etsy, too. So I love your idea and think it a fantastic plan!

  11. You are so sweet. Thank you for the shoutout!

I've been supporting Etsy shops for a few years now and love it. I try to do most of my Christmas shopping on Etsy and have found some really fabulous sellers and so many unique gifts.

And, now I need to go see some of the shops you listed because some are new to me.
