Week in Review - Week 15

Random Thoughts

Bullet Journalling is perfect for list maker me. I love putting an 'X' by accomplished projects and seeing that I am accomplishing things! I have been taking pictures again and I have been following this cleaning guide to have a better plan for keeping my house in order. I am bad with 'out of sight, out of mind', so now I scribble reminders in my journal and it gets done! This morning I rearranged closets which is why this post is a bit late. I read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up and while I like the idea, I personally think it is only ideal if you either live alone or live with someone that is willing to do it, too. So, instead I just feel organized in what my daily tasks are and feel a little less overwhelmed. I want to use a conventional planner, too, though, because I just don't find that Bullet Journalling works for me for scheduling ahead... I am sure it does for others, but I am not there yet. Also, I still am having a hard time finding time to read longer works so my reading is just not where I wish it was, but I think it is mostly mood. We got a freaking snow storm overnight!

Weekly Reading

Armada - Audiobook - My first audiobook of the year. I am finally getting back into audiobooks. I hope it continues! I didn't like this one quite as much as Ready Player One, but it was still good. I think for what it was trying to be, it once again worked well. And, it was narrated by Wil Wheaton. He was a perfect chance to get back into audiobooks. Recommended!

Gotham Academy - Volume 2: Calamity - One of my anticipated reads of 2016 was this series. I read Volume 1 on a whim last year and enjoy this younger take on the DC series. It is not exactly my favourite series ever, but it is readable and fun. I look forward to more! Recommended!

The Autumnlands - Volume 1: Tooth and Claw - Every time Image has a sale, I glance at this comic... But, I can never decide if I would actually like it. Then, it was recommended to me so I decided to finally check it out. And, I liked it! I love fantasy, so I am not sure why I was so hesitant. Recommended!

Birthright - Volume 1: Homecoming -  Another series I had been eyeing but wasn't sure if I wanted to try it until it was recommended to me. This is another fantasy series that amazes me I wasn't more interested in trying it out. And, just when I was really engrossed in the story... The volume ended. So, we know that someone will be getting volume 2 sooner rather than later! Recommended!

Batgirl - Volume 1: The Darkest Reflection -  I read the newer series, so I thought I would backtrack and read this older one. It sort of sets up events that are mentioned in the newer one, so it was good to have the framework. I think I like the newer interpretation of Babs better, though. It is still early in and I have volume 2 here to read sooner rather than later. I am enjoying exploring DC a bit this year! Recommended!

Kids are Weird - Scribd - I will be the first to admit that I have been neglecting Scribd since the new changes came out. But, if I don't use some of my credits I won't get any more in a couple weeks and then what am I paying for? That being said, when I went on yesterday morning to browse... I ended up reading comics that I didn't need to use credits on. I have heard of Jeffrey Brown before, but this was my first time reading him. He seems like he would be lots of fun. I look forward to more from him!

Red Sonja - Scribd - Another comic I could have read without using a credit... But, I have been curious about this for a while and thought I would give it a try. I love a series with a strong female character, but I never understand their outfits... I found it funny that the person that made hers explained it was so men were distracted by her curves and not paying attention to the action. I suppose it is as good a reason as any? I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either.

  1. I am quite fascinated by this bullet journaling. I'm looking and trying to decide. As for long term planning, do you make a monthly page as well? it's an idea.
I'm sure I'll get around to Kondo some day - I get the main idea but it would be cool to read.

Also, not impressed with the snow last night! It's covering up my little crocuses that bloomed last week.

  2. I spent all of yesterday and today researching the Bullet Journal method and just went and got my book this morning. So I'm very excited to read that you follow the method too!

My husband bought me Armada last year but, oops, I am yet to get to it.

  7. Um. Those nachos...now I want nachos just like that for lunch!

Yay for bullet journalling! Your comment about scheduling ahead - that is where I use my Google calendar. Then, I just copy down what is on the calendar for that day into my bujo. I never stopped using my Google calendar because it is the family calendar and contains everyone's activities and appointments on it, so this allows me to still use one "planner" while being able to keep a master schedule.

I look forward to your thoughts on The Girl With All the Gifts!
