Random Thoughts
The great reading continues. I was a bit worried because sometimes it is hard to keep on reading after you read books that you really love... The others dull in comparison. But, I think reading so much and blogging over the years has made me know my reading to a point where if I have a DNF book it is because of my mood and not the book. Otherwise, nothing has really not worked for me this year. (Stuff has to start, though, because I need to get rid of more books! lol) I am excited to see where my reading takes me next!

Rat Queens - Volume 3 ~ Okay, I lied in my opening post. I didn't really like this. I love the idea of this series, but this one just seemed all over the place and I had a hard time connecting with the story. I read Volume 2 not that long ago, but I felt like I had no idea what was even happening in this one. And, then there is drama happening with the writer and the artists. So, I don't know if I will read Volume 4... There are just better series out there!
Blue Lily, Lily Blue ~ I am so proud of myself... The third book in a series read soon after reading books 1 and 2. Normally it takes me forever to accomplish this and then I have no idea what is going on. But, I was determined to not let that happen and read this one right after finishing The Dream Thieves. I really enjoyed this one! I read it a bit slower than the other books in the series, but not because it was bad... Just because life happens! So happy I read it! Strongly recommended!
The Raven King ~ Well, I read this book on Friday... The whole thing. I haven't done that in ages because work, life, etc happens. But, once I hit a certain point, I stayed up way too late to see what happened. I loved it. I loved this series. I am so glad that I finally read a series straight through and got the enjoyment that I always seem to miss by letting too much time go by. And, while I wish I had discovered this series before now, I think waiting worked out. Strongly recommended!
The Tithe - Volume 1 ~ One thing I am trying to do is not neglect my books on my e-reader. This is a book from a Humble Bundle. And, since I just bought another Humble Bundle *cough*, I really need to read the stragglers left over from other ones. I had heard good things about this comic and am surprised it took me so long to get to it. I enjoyed it! It reminded me a bit of Genius, and I think it would appeal to fans of that. Recommended!

I'm glad you joined us on the 30 days of books. I'm rereading The Raven Boys right now so I can read the rest of the series. I tried reading the second one it didn't know what was going on. I'm going to do better!
ReplyDeleteI read The Raven Boys at the beginning of the month, and I'm waiting for a nice open stretch to breeze through the rest of the series. It seems like a fun one to just immerse yourself in.
ReplyDeleteThere are many books I DNF because of mood/context rather than simply not liking the book. Like you, I feel that years of reading/blogging has been really beneficial on that front.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I really want to read Dorothy Must Die, but I've been hesitant. But Oz is one of my favorites, and I love stories inspired by it.
I clasped my hands in joy over you finishing the Raven Cycle. I'm so, so glad you loved the last two books! As soon as I finished The Raven King, I was ready for a reread of the whole series -- I just love them all so much, and I hated to leave that world and those characters behind.
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing Mr. Splitfoot everywhere today!
ReplyDeleteI am really hoping to finally read the Raven Cycle books this summer! Better late than never to join in the fun, huh? :P And of course, I shouldn't count my chickens before they're hatched--I think my mental list of books I really really really really really want to read this summer is in the hundreds... :/
