Week in Review - Week 11

Life

Another quiet reading week. I am not even sure what I am doing other than reading, but I didn't even finish my audio this week. Hoping this week gets better. I didn't even get my blog post up on time.

What I have done is watch a lot of movies. I watched The Secret Life of Pets. That was a cute movie. Another one I watched was Zootopia. I really liked that one. One I didn't like was Trolls. It was a bit boring for me. Storks was cute. I finally saw Finding Dory. I had fun with it. I saw Inside Out, too. It wasn't too bad. As you can see, it was still kid movies. lol I think I just needed some short and sweet stuff that didn't make me think too much. There were others, but that mood seems to be passing. Now if the reading would just get better!

Currently Reading

I got auto-approved for this from Netgalley, so I decided to check it out. I enjoyed Wein in the past. I am liking it, but anyone's guess if I will even finish it! This reading slump is the pits.

Audiobook

I tried to read this last year and couldn't get into it. I though that the audio would go better, but I am not sure if it is me or the book that has this carrying into another week. I have been almost done for days now. Going to have to find something awesome to follow it up with because I don't want an audio slump.

Weekly Reading

Understanding Color in Photography ~ When I was on Netgalley checking out the Elizabeth Wein book, this book caught my eye. I own everyone of his books, so I had to at least try and see if I was approved for this one. And, I was! It was informative and I have the paperback edition in my cart for when it is released in August, but at the same time I am not positive I need to own a copy. The issue I had with this book was the terrible formatting and I know that is an e-galley thing, but there were times where I wasn't sure if I was reading captions or the rest of the sentence. Then I would be like, where is the rest of this sentence. I learned a lot about colour and really wish I actually kept up my camera learning. There is just not enough hours in my day. I do recommend this and all of Bryan Peterson's books, though!

Wayward - Volume 4: Threads and Portents ~ Yay! This is one of my favourite graphic novel series and I was so excited for a new volume. I had planned to reread the first 3 volumes, but with my reading slump, I decided I should just be happy if I manage to get through this one for now. That means that there were a few details it took me a bit to remember, but I still overall really enjoyed this volume and am excited to see how the events of it play out in Volume 5. Recommended!

  1. I hope you can get back into the swing of things. We just watched Finding Dory as well. I thought it was cute. Holly was not a fan, and Connor refused to watch it with us - even though Nemo was his favorite movie when he was little. It made me sad to see him dismiss something he used to love. Oh well!

  2. Sorry about the slump. I was struggling last week and finally had to just force my way through the books that were giving me grief. Never fun but one was for book club and I'm not keen on not finishing those. Now I've started two more books and am enjoying them much better. Good luck with your slump. I need to see Storks.

  3. I hope your reading becomes fun again. I need spring to get here and stay, I think that'll just put me in a better mood all around.

  4. I liked Inside Out the best of those you watched recently. I really enjoyed Big Hero 6, have you seen it?!

I've been watching a lot of movies lately myself. Mostly older stuff. The three Tammy movies (Debbie Reynolds, Sandra Dee), If A Man Answers, That Funny Feeling, Down with Love, Lover Come Back. I get my walking in while watching ;)

  5. Sometimes reading is just tough to do - your mood or your life at that moment - whatever. I've had those times. Watching movies has been a way for me to get out of a slump like that too. We've seen several of those movies and they are very cute. I'll also echo the recommendation for Big Hero 6. Have a good week!

  7. Yep, classic and kid movies are my stress relief these days too. Last night I watched The Parent Trap for the billionth time. I love Hayley Mills!

  8. I enjoyed Finding Dory, but my wife had no interest. Haven't seen Secret Life of Pets. No interest in Trolls or Storks, but enjoyed Zootopia and Inside Out.

  9. I thought Secret Life of Pets was cute too! I watch a lot of thrillers so it's good to watch a kid's film every once in a while :)

  10. In our household we loved Zootopia (Zootropolis is the title here in the UK) as well as Finding Dory. Finding Dory was actually the film we saw on my son's first trip to the cinema.

Sorry to hear you aren't getting much enjoyment out of reading at the moment still - I have been feeling the same way a little lately - and found stepping back from my books for a good few days did help a little. I'm definitely not reading at my usual speed, but when I do pick up a book now, the activity of reading is fun.
