Week in Review (7)

Random Thoughts

I am in a bit of a slump at the moment. I read 3 books that I didn't really like lately and I am still recovering. Most of the reading I accomplished was more from making myself read than actual enjoyment of the books, so I just hardly read at all. Hopefully next week will be better!

Challenge News

I read Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier for the Great Reading Swap. My review, with Melissa from Book Nut, will be up on Tuesday.
I read Scott Pilgrim vs The World by Bryan Lee O'Malley for the Manga Challenge hosted by Rhinoa.

  1. I'm sorry to hear about your bad reading streak as well! I hope your next book is so awesome that it cancels out the bad ones.

  2. LOL--remember to take a mighty huge bag to carry home all those books from the library!

Sorry about the slew of disappointing books, Kelly...I hope the next one you pick up is a pure delight!

  3. Sorry you read some books that dissapointed, hopefully the next ones will be better.
I've been wanting to read Freedom also.

  4. I love reading about what others get (or are going to get) from the library...so thanks for sharing! I'm really looking forward to reading The Vampire Voss so I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it as well as your thoughts on Daughter of the Forest. Hope you snap out of your reading slump soon!

  5. Get out of that reading slump quick before it takes hold and won't let go!

  6. Meghan: I started The Three Musketeers last night and I think I might like it. Still early to say, though!

Debi: I know! There was little chance they would come in all at once, but then I had to suspend things because of the ILL overload, so now everything is a mess. Will have to read some of the shorter books I have out so I can get the pile down!

Naida: I had Freedom out before, but never got a chance to read it. Hopefully by the time it is my turn again I will have more time.

Samantha: Thanks! It will be a bit for my Vampire Voss thoughts, but Daughter of Forest will be up on Tuesday.

Tink: I know! The year was going so well, too!

  7. I know All about slumps. But I hope that I am getting out of the one I've been in for months. Also good luck with Freedom. I've read it and liked it a lot, but it wasn't a super easy read.

  8. Ugh! Three books read and you didn't like any of them? That's horrible. Was the Scott Pilgrim book one of the three you didn't enjoy? I just watched the movie and now I want to read the series. Have a good week.

  13. Louise: I am not really sure if Freedom is the sort of book I should read from the library....

Vasilly: Nope! I liked Scott Pilgrim, no worries!

bermudaonion: Well, I liked Daughter of the Forest... But I started it earlier in the month, so it wasn't an accomplishment finishing it in the end. Same with Vampire Voss.

Ames: I am hoping to get to Under the Poppy soon!

Aarti: I am looking forward to A Discovery of Witches. I probably should have bought it...

    Darlene: Thanks!

  17. Alyce: Some will take forever to come in, so its not as bad as it could be... I tried to thin it down but I couldn't make up my mind!

Chris: I am trying to get out of the slump! I hope you are soon, too! I miss you, you are so quiet lately...

Wendy: Even the books I am finishing are books that I started at the beginning of the month or even in January... Can't get my head around anything.

  18. Wow! That's a lot of books on hold. My luck, they'd all come in over the period of a week! Hopefully, you get them nicely spaced out. If your a LHOTP fan you'll love Alison Arngrim's book. It's way better than Laura's oops *I mean Melissa Gilberts's.

  19. *Nicola: They do tend to group together no matter how far apart I request things... I get over it, though, and try not to stress!
