Week in Review (10)

Random Thoughts

It was a quiet week for reading. There were other things going on, so I didn't get around to as much as I had hoped. I haven't read anything all weekend! I could be reading right now, but I wanted to update my blog. I am also listening to a CD by Beck for my 'Music Broadening Project'. I guess that means that something is getting accomplished! I would be happy to get a bit more accomplished, though. Hopefully next week will work out a bit better for that.

Challenge News

Nothing I read was for a challenge...

Weekly Reads

I all ready reviewed this. You can read my thoughts here.

I had been meaning to get to this for a while, but I kept forgetting to request it from the library. I wasn't exactly blown away by it. It was good, which Jeff Smith always is, but it hasn't grown on me yet. I think I will wait and see how the series progresses before really saying what I think.

It had been a while since I read Shaun Tan. I am so glad I requested this from the library! His artwork is fantastic!! I am going to get more of them very soon and catch-up.

I was in a Patricia Briggs mood, so I thought I would finish off this series by her. I read the first 3 books last year, but never got around to this one. It is called a series, but other than the first two books following the same character, it is not really a necessary series to read in any sort of order. There is a bit of stuff that happens throughout, but this book could easily be read as a standalone. It was the best of the four books, too. I actually wouldn't have minded if she had made this a first book in a longer series.

New Additions

I actually have no idea. I didn't buy anything, but I did go to the library and get a couple review books. I will do a separate post or include them next week.

  1. I've heard such good things about The Arrival but keep forgetting to look for it at the library.

    1. I forget about Tan entirely. I am glad I remembered!

  2. I read my first Kage Baker this week. Have you read her? I read a fantasy, not sci fi by her, but if it's anything to go on, I think you'd really enjoy her. Maybe we can read the first book in the Company series together later this year, if you haven't already read it?

  6. Yes, Shaun Tan is amazing. Glad you enjoyed it.

As much as I enjoyed Bone, Smith's RASL never really got my attention. I looked at it several times at the comic shop and it just wasn't anything special that I wanted to take home. I started re-reading Bone along with my wife last year. Need to finish that project for Once Upon a Time this year.

    1. Yeah, I was not blown away by RASL. I had seen a few reviews around and decided to check it out, but it was not necessary really.
