Week in Review (9)

Random Thoughts

I have a new area for my computer, so I am happy. We had to move things around, but it all worked out in the end. The desk has been here, but I needed a flat screen monitor for my PC, so now that I have that we finally put it together the other night. It is actually pretty nice. I have actually been reading a lot in March, but haven't finished many actual books. It's mainly because instead of just reading one book, I have been balancing a couple. Hopefully I will get a few of them finished this upcoming week.

I joined Netflix today, so that is both a good and a bad thing. We watched When You're Strange tonight. It is a documentary about The Doors narrated by Johnny Depp. I read part of the day, but then I went on there browsing to see what my options were and for some reason wound up watching Hoarders. I am not even sure why! I mainly just wanted to see what it was like and that was one of the first things I saw. I think it will work out well. I wish there were some newer movies on there and several TV shows I was hoping to watch aren't available, but I am sure we will find plenty to watch.

Challenge News

I finally read Tender Morsels by Margo Lanagan, which counts for both The Great Reading Swap and The Aussie Author Challenge. I did not know she was Australian, but that quite worked out!

  1. We are totally addicted to Netflix here! We have a plan that allows us to get DVDs in the mail as well as watch streaming. It's been a life-saver this weekend, with the kids and I down with flu - the kids watch one episode of Phineas & Ferb after another. :)

  2. Looking forward to your thoughts on Tender Morsels!

I actually just quit netflix for the second time. I find that I don't watch enough movies to make even the smallest plan worth it. Sometimes a movie will sit on my desk for 3 months and I'll be paying monthly fees all that time. Yeah. So I decided to quit.

  3. I joined netflix when it became available in Canada. Still waiting for it to get better.

Also, hoarders is one of those shows you just can't turn away from. LOL But everytime I watch, I get motivated to clean.

  4. Carrie: We can just watch movies on a device in Canada. That's the only option available for us.

Amanda: Oh, yes, now that I am done I wanted to know what bothered you near the end. I forgot to email you!

In Canada you pay 8 bucks and can watch unlimited, but only on a device. They don't send the movies to you or anything. I read, but the cc is a movie/tv person, so at night we tend to watch something.

Ames: Well, there is a lot on there I want to watch, so hopefully it will take me a while to think it needs to get better...

I know! I watched 3 episodes yesterday... lol

  5. Netflix is great, but terrible for my reading. I get sucked into TV shows way, way to easily. Glad to hear about your new desk too -- flat screen monitors are great!

  6. I have Netflix and really enjoy getting the chance to watch old 80's movies :) In fact, last week I watched Can't Buy Me Love for the first time...I had never even heard of it before. Have a great week of reading!

  8. Netflix is a nice resource to have! I didn't think we'd use it that much, but we love the streaming. I watch Doctor Who the most often - they have seasons 1-4 of the new series and they are such fun. :)

  10. Kim: I know! I am watching Hoarders simply because it was on the screen and I wanted to see what it was like...

Yeah, I LOVE my flat screen. It makes a big difference!

Samantha: The Canadian one doesn't have Can't Buy Me Love, but I think I have seen it before... I haven't watched much of it yet, so I am not sure what I will watch on it.

    bermudaonion: So far, so good!

Alyce: They don't have the new Doctor Who in Canada unfortunately. Someone else mentioned it so I looked it up. It has some good stuff, though.

Chris: I am reviewing it with Heather. :)

So far, so good with Netflix, but we just got it and haven't really used it yet.

  11. I live under a rock- I never realized Canadians didn't have Nexflix. Please forgive my typical American ignorance. We love Netflix here too, but I'm also addicted to Redbox. Good for you for upgrading your monitor, I need to do the same.

  12. Amanda: I know. Canada is slow to get things and it is a lot different here. Plus, the US has more selection. It's a work in progress, though.
